Hello! Planning first trip to Cabo with adult children. So overwhelming what area to stay? I have an interval week to use. Looks like either in Cabo or tourist corridor? Looking for beach, kids will want to golf.. probably rent a car. I’m more interested in a luxury resort with gorgeous views :)

II has offered up Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes and Westin Los Cabos. Any thoughts? I also have a request in for Hacienda Encantada. Thank you!!

Both Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes and Westin Los Cabos are nice. The Grand Solmar is away from the city on the pacific coast a bit north of Cabo San Lucas. They do run a shuttle bus hourly IIRC to/from their sister resort, Grand Solmar Lands End, which would give you fairly easy access to CSL to walk around. Views can be okay there if you get the right unit.

Westin Los Cabos is on the touristic corridor just west of San Jose del Cabo. They used to run a shuttle to either San Jose or CSL but no longer do. It's quite easy to get an Uber there to go anywhere you want, though you do have to walk just outside of the gate. All of the units have ocean views.

If you want to be able to walk out into town, Cabo Azul would be a good choice if there's availability. There are a few others in that area.

Looking for beach,
Its important to know that many stretches of the beach in Cabo do not allow swimming. There is a huge problem with undertow and churning water. If you want the beach so that you can walk and sit on dry sand, all resorts will allow it.

At Grand Solmar Lands End, there are guards on ATVs who will remind you of the rules if you just get your ankles wet.

Pacific Dunes is kind of far from town if they want to walk around and have some beverages. Hacienda would be a good choice because it is close to San Lucas and one of the only swimming beaches (Médano beach).

San Lucas is more party party than San Jose.

I would also request Vista Encantada. It sits right next to Hacienda Encantada. Beautiful views from the units. Another one to consider is Serena Del Mar, which is now a Hyatt Vacation Club (former Welk Resorts) resort. It is also on the corridor.

I would add Casa Dorada at Medano beach MBE, Corazon Cabo CVJ, and Grand Solmar Land's End GSE.

The first two are right on Medano beach and Grand Solmar is an easy walk to the marina.

THIS. If swimming at the beach is important to you and your group. There are very few resorts with swimmable beaches in Cabo due to dangerous undertow and currents.

When people simply say "Cabo" they are normally referring to Cabo San Lucas. Though it can refer to the whole area. We prefer the Timeshares/Resorts in San Jose del Cabo. Our preferred Resorts in San Jose del Cabo are Cabo Azul and Coral Baja.

Vista is great; we had a two bedroom in June 2023. The food is meh to good, so consider that if you are considering AI for any part of your stay. There are so many great places to eat around Cabo/SJ and at all price points, when we to this Jan to Solaz we are just going to get some snacks, liquor and drinks, and breakfast/lunch foods and dine the rest of the meals. If you have access to RCI at all, Solaz is amazing and very high end.

I generally hear it to mean the entirety of both CSL and SJD.

For a first time with adult kids any resort on Medano Beach is just right because you are close to most of the night life and day time action. Squid Row and some of the other clubs in this area are fun and safe.

If you have to choose a corridor resort the Westin is near many golf courses and activities. It's near Chileno Bay which is the best snorkel area and hang around beach in the area. There are usually chairs and umbrellas for rent. It's byob. Very nice public restrooms and showers at Chileno.

The Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes is on the Pacific near many golf courses. Great sunsets. I can get breezy in this area. Before all of these resorts were built and access beach a problem, this area was prime beach fishing. This is a resort that I would like to visit so it is my first pick. We have been on the Pacific side staying at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach and the Montecristo Estates and we really like sunsets

Hacienda Encantada is kind of old, imo. Not run down but old and old style Mexican, imo. It wouldn't be on my pick list. My wife fell on a cactus near the back entry way which ended our trip so I might be a bit jaded.
