Most of you likely know this but you can buy starpoints direct from Starwood, Up to 20,000 /points/year.

Starwood sells StarPoints at a rate of 1000 pts for $35 so 20,000 pts would be $700.

With my starwood AMEX, I got 15K for signing up, and another 15K bonus for charging $15K in the first 6 months. for a total of 45K starpoints.

So 3.5 cents a point. You can do slightly better laundering Starwood AMEX charges through your personal PayPal account at .03 per point.

I think $0.02/Starpoint is a decent deal, but $0.035 is about what the average value is. I wouldn't get too excited about it.

if you think of what 20000 starpoints can get you. 1 airline ticket domestic even if it is high priced won't be over $600.
or 2 nights in a category hotel at tops $350 per night.
and if you pay $700 for those starpoints it is definitely not worth it.

I got my 45,000 starpoint from my AMEX by early summer and my DW just finished getting hers. So we used the points to book a Westin in Venice. At 800 euros a night (~$1200/night) IMHO, we got great value for our points.

That would be against Paypal's T&C's. Whether you choose to do it (and get away with) doesn't matter to me, but others should no there is some risk to doing so.
