I am looking at buying resale and some of the ads say floating and some say points. Is there any difference?

Floating could just be weeks that aren't converted to points. Points are points, floating is no longer a term used for points.

And Wyndham was either sold as straight up points, call UDI (Undivided Interest) or fixed weeks that were converted to points. The underlying fixed week may have been floating, or it may have been a numbered week. Once converted it really doesn't factor in much unless you are trying to Advance Reserve (ARP which is 13 months out to book) that week you own. In 25 years I have used ARP exactly once. I usually just wait until club season (10 months out to book) or during Express season (3 months out to book).

If you see NO points mentioned than it is likely still a straight up UNCOVERTED week. You do not want those, as you will have to pay and buy something retail from Wyndham to convert those to points.

Some listings (I think Redweek might be this way?) may have a field that says “floating” when it’s really points. Basically, if the listing states a specific number of points, even if it happens to say floating it’s really points.
