Buying points from Developer

We just attended an owners presentation and were offered to purchase 660 points from the developer at a cost of $18k. We already have 6600 points that were purchased at resale. The attraction was that not only would our existing 6600 points (+ the additional points purchased) would now be eligible for World of Hyatt hotel points, but supposedly the maintenance fees on our existing points would be capped at an annual increase of 2% (v. about 10% currently.) Any thoughts?

I think you already know the answer before even asking the question. Always ask them to back up their statement by showing where in the contract that it states what they are saying.

The last part would 100% a lie. There are no caps on maintenance fees in the Hyatt system.

Remember the oft-quoted adage here on TUG. Question: How do you know a developer sales representative is lying? Answer: His lips are moving. Marriott now owns Hyatt and has been much more aggressive in raising maintenance fees on most properties.

Like others have said, just move on and enjoy your vacation.
