Is there anywhere on the MVC website that says which resorts have a 13 months booking window, which have a 12 month booking window and which have both for DPs? Or do you just need to be “in the know”?

I see that Aruba and St Kitts have a 12 month booking window and it does not appear they release any inventory at 13 months for DPs. At 12 months, they seem to have a lot of inventory available to book with DPs. Is there a reason why they do not release inventory earlier than 12 months? Are there other resorts like this with a 12 month booking window only?

I have heard there are other resorts, like Maui Ocean Club, that release half their inventory at 13 months and the other half at 12 months. Which other resorts have 2 release dates?

Until recently, I did not realize that not all MVC resorts did not release at the 13 month mark. I thought they all did. Naive me!

For DP reservations, so much depends on how much inventory MVC has for that resort. For resorts like Aruba, they are 100% relying on owners giving up their week for points. While MVC can forecast point conversions on some level, unless an owner elects points more than 13 months in advance, then the inventory won't be there. With the point election deadline for most enrolled owners being September 30th, that means that about 3/4 of the year wouldn't be available for 13 month reservations for those weeks elected close to the deadline.

What you are looking for simply isn't something that MVC provides to owners looking to make reservations. These are things learned by searching for inventory. MVC isn't all that transparent as to how they manage the inventory behind the scenes.

Would it be possible for TUG to produce a list based on insider’s knowledge? I am sort of getting the hang of it now based on what you just said…doing searches. I can see what inventory at the various resorts is released though approx May 20 and what inventory is released through approx June 20.

I am not aware that any resorts purposefully and specifically hold back inventory. The rule for DP is they can release up to half of the inventory at 13 months. I am not aware of any resorts that consciously don't release any inventory at 13 months but it does vary greatly from what I've seen. Besides the trust vs DP mix and dependency on enrolled members electing, there is also the challenge at some resorts of different rooms types, views, and lock off's. Another variable is that often the rooms are not released at the time stated, sometimes it's early and sometimes it's late. For difficult to secure reservations I start checking a couple of days before the 13 month window opens and then several times a day, including at the stated time until either I have what I need or the 12 month window has passed by a couple of days. After that I check periodically. As mentioned, units often come available around election deadlines as well.
