[2023] bonvoy night credits from intrval exchange

Just reporting back on my Streamside stay that was a Interval Getaway. I purchased wristbands at the front desk and my stay credited 2 days after check out. Just enough nights to get me to Platinum this year.
I find Marriott resorts to be pretty consistent in posting stays, even without any kind of room charge. Westin & Sheraton is a different story. We just finished a stay at Sheraton Vistana Villages and made a room charge. I double checked at checkin and checkout the Bonvoy number on the reservation. We shall see if it posts. The one issue that could cause a hangup is that when we arrived at the security gate and at the front desk, they could not find our reservation. It took a manager to find it.

Just finished a getaway stay at Grande Vista and did not get ENC for it. I called filled out missing stay and called Bonvoy. Both said they can't give ENC for vacation club stays and gave me the number for MVC (as if I didn't have it.) :rolleyes: Anyone else run into issues recently?

They are incorrect. You absolutely are entitled to ENCs for a getaway or an exchange. Did you add the stay to your Bonvoy account in advance of your stay? Is your Bonvoy # on the folio you received at check-out?

Yes, my Bonvoy was added and it was in my "current trips." The number is also on my folio. I've received credit for my last 2 Getaways and the only difference this time was that I had to dispute something that showed up on my folio at check out. They removed it. Should I just keep calling until I get someone who will add my stay?

I would. I don’t take no for an answer when I know I’m right! lol

Here is the information related to non Qualifying rates which would not quality for ENC. While it's a little vague, I think they can easily argue that a getaway falls under the definitions included. And they hold all the power.
2.1.f. Non-Qualifying Rates. A “Non-Qualifying Rate” is a rate a Member pays for a Stay in a guest room at a Participating Property which does not qualify to earn Points or Miles, as well as membership tier benefits. Non-Qualifying Rates are those booked using the following methods:

i. The guest room was booked through a tour operator, online travel channel or other third-party channel including, without limitation, expedia.com, hotwire.com, priceline.com, orbitz.com, booking.com, travelocity.com; or

ii. The guest room was booked at a group rate as part of an event, meeting, conference or organized tour, and the Member does not directly pay the Participating Property for such room; or

iii. The guest room was booked at a tour operator, wholesaler, or crew room rate or package including, without limitation, organized tours or package bookings; or

iv. The guest room was complimentary; or

v. A voucher or third-party award was redeemed for the guest room.

Yes, they told me I had to be the Bonvoy "owner of record" in order to get the ENCs. Though this was for a Sheraton Vacation Club stay. My wife is the primary and the one that gets Elite status because of our ownership. They apparently would have given her the credit. In my recent experience, it seems to be a losing battle now with missing stay requests. We just completed a stay at Grande Vista and my wife did get the credit.

After a while they know it will just exhaust you and you give up. I did last year. Though the nights didn't end up mattering for the year. As Dean said, they hold the power and I doubt MVC will go to bat for you on an II getaway stay.

It's just me on everything... So I'm not sure why they are giving me issues with this.

Woohoo somehow emailing my folio to bonvoy.program@marriott.com and citing some of the T&C worked. Just got an email apologizing that my stay was not automatically credited and the nights and points for incidentals just hit my account. I'm pleasantly surprised.

I just don't know why they can't train their customer service folks on the rules.

Agreed. The reps on the phone were very rude and treated me like I was asking for the impossible. They didn't believe I received credit in the past. They referred me back to MVC to get an explanation of why my stay wasn't eligible. I wish I could call back those reps to rub it in their faces!

I don't know if we know the actual rules on this. It is kind of a gray area when it comes to ENCs. Is an II reservation a Qualifying Stay? Are they part of the Abound Exchange Program? The rules seem much more clear when it comes to points for incidental spending.

Here is what the T&C state;

7.1.c. Due to the nature of the MVC Club and VSE Resort properties, the following special conditions apply to their participation in the Loyalty Program
i. Vacation Club Members will earn Elite Night Credit for a Qualifying Stay at MVC Club and VSE Resort properties, and for stays at Participating Properties as part of the Abound Exchange Program.
ii. Vacation Club Members will earn Points or Miles for all Qualifying Charges at MVC Club and VSE Resort properties

@claraj do you mind sharing some of the language you used in the email? Currently dealing with this same issue, and Marriott is not budging. Normally I wouldn’t care but it’s the difference between gold and platinum for me.

@bonjourashley I included the folllowing:

According to the terms and conditions, qualifying nights include:

ix. Marriott Vacation Club® and Marriott Grand Residence Club® - all locations except for:

A. Grand Residences by Marriott – Mayfair-London, UK

B. Marriott Vacation Club® at The Empire Place©, Bangkok, Thailand

C. Marriott Vacation Club and Marriott Grand Residence Club properties which participate have limited on-property benefits as outlined in Section 4 and Section 7.
