In 2022 we stayed at Boardwalk Villas on an RCI exchange. We are a family of 5 and our boys were about 4 years old (and daughter was 8). I don’t remember having any issues getting everyone added to the reservation from the exchange.

However, I’m a little worried because I notice that the capacity is listed at 4 rather than 5 (as opposed to some of the other resorts that have a listed capacity of 5 with interval).

Does anyone have experience recently adding 5 people to a reservation on an exchange?

I can tell you that if you reserve a BWV 1BR directly with DVC you won't be able to have all 5 people on the reservation on My Disney Experience (and thus won't be considered as staying 'on property'...which impacts Lightning Lanes among other things). I assume that exchanging through II works the same way but have no direct experience.

(And unlike some of the other DVC 1BRs, the BWV 1BR living rooms don't have a child sized Murphy tucked under the TV nor a chairbed).

There should be no issues with 5 in a 1BR for an exchange.. They will not provide extra bedding or other amenities normally though. Cash reservations are limited to 4 people unless one is under 3. Call and add all 5 and you'll know for certain.

Was your 2022 stay in a 1BR or a studio?

There is kind of a weird thing at some DVC resorts like BWV, BCV and BRV for example where the studios do have sleeping capacity for 5 (with a twin murphy), while the 1BRs have capacity for 4. Our two older kids very much prefer the studios that sleep 5 over the 1BRs (or studios) that sleep 4 because they don't have to share a bed. But obviously the 1BR provides extra privacy for everyone.

Here is how DVC describes the BWV 1BR on their website for points bookings:

That leads to two separate issues -

(i) Can you have 5 people on the 1BR reservation? The answer is yes, for points bookings (and based on prior responses in the thread, also for II exchanges). That matters for perks like early park access for all 5 guests because the stay is linked to the guest profile.

(@ljmiii If the website does not allow the 5th person when booking with points, Member Services will add the 5the person via call/chat - this this disboards thread).

(ii) Do you have sleeping capacity for 5 in the 1BR? - The answer to that is (kind of) no. Unless you have 3 people in the king bed or bring an air mattress. The room has 1 King bed and 1 sleeper sofa/murphy.

Here's a youtube video (there are many others) of the refurbished 1BR layout:

BWV reservations booked with D.V.C. points, which includes inbound exchanges, allow 5 people in a 1BR, but you have to call to add the 5th person, even if you’re a BWV owner. I believe it’s to allow the CM an opportunity to make sure you understand that they will not provide a cot, a rollaway, or any other bedding for that 5th person. Apparently not everyone in the past understood that restriction.

In the past they wouldn’t provide towels either for the 5th person, but now that you can get extra towels whenever and for whatever reason simply by calling Housekeeping, that’s not an issue.

Thanks! Bedding is less of an issue since we mad that work last year without

We stayed in a 1 bedroom.

Our kids were young (and still are), so it's not a big deal for us to squeeze in with the existing bedding. I was just surprised since there seems to be some debate on if it's allowed.

We really enjoyed Boardwalk, but I'm sort of leaning towards cancelling (I think I'm still within the II grace period as I confirmed on Saturday and they are closed Sunday). We aren't sure if we're up for lots of park days and there are some resorts in Orlando we like better when we don't go to the parks.

3 of us stayed at Boardwalk last week and we fully enjoyed except... we wish there would be one more bathroom...you know what I mean and imagine 5 fight for 1 spot... We all missed our previous stay at MGV 2-bed for that reason.
