Got a "free" 3 day vacation at BlueGreen Resort 36 in Las Vegas. Spent $995 on a 7000 point sampler package. They had me initial a box on the agreement that said "I give up my right to rescind this contract." They recorded our conversation so I told them that I did not believe that I was able to sign away my right to rescind this contract (so that's recorded too). If I can get a week in Virginia for my sampler then I'll be reasonably happy (should be enough points left over for another Vegas jaunt).
Is it worth bothering to try and get out of this purchase? Bought 2 days ago so even if the cancellation period is 72 hours I've got tonight to think about it. I see BlueGreen points going for effectively zero on ebay. Are people really that unhappy with them? People seem happy with theirs on another timeshare forum.

There are a lot of happy Bluegreen owners. The problem is that Bluegreen sold way too many packages from 2005-2008 to people with questionable credit. So, those people are defaulting on their loans and maintenance fees. That has created a big imbalance in terms of supply and demand. It will still be a while before that overhang is fully addressed. It is getting better, but not over yet.

I am surprised that you were asked to give up your right to rescind. In states like Florida, there is an irrevocable right of rescission.

I own a fixed week at a Blue Green Resort, not points, so perhaps I shouldnt comment. But I dont think its a question of whether of not people are happy with their ownership. I suspect most are. just like most Wyndham owners are happy with theres (I own Wyndham)...but life happens and some people want to sell.....What you see on ebay is the market (or at least part of it)

I hope Boca is right and prices for all our timeshares bounce back, but not until Ive bought my fill at todays prices

Paragraph 8 of "Sampler Program Terms and Conditions" says:
"Cancellation/Refund and Value of Benefits.
This Agreement is not subject to cancellation by Member."

and then in "Bluegreen Vacation Club Value Sampler Program Confirmation Interview" line 15 says:
"You understand that this purchase is final and that you may not cancel your Sampler purchase."
my wife and I had to initial that line. That's the one that I announced that I did not believe that I could sign away my rights like that.

I think I'll be fine with my sampler package as long as I can make it to Williamsburg - one of the places my wife really wants to get to again. Just retired so I'm flexible on travel.

I don't believe that prices will bounce back to what they were in 2008, but I do believe they will have value. There needs to be a resale market to turn over packages and have people continue to pay maintenance fees.

Right now, Bluegreen has a big surplus of owners that are delinquent on maintenance fees, dues and loans. Until they foreclose on all of that bad debt, there is no chance that they will buy back packages. However, when the bad debt is behind them completely, it only makes sense that Bluegreen will acquire cheap inventory. Why not? It's nearly free. What a cheap source of inventory that would result in huge margins. They will do it because it will be in their best interest to do so. As long as BG continues to sell, then this will be in the future.

I own both bluegreen club and bluegreen fixed summer week (2Bedrooms) of Atlantic Palace. As far as for maintenance fee, the cost is about the same for me. (It would be more if the person would have to pay the added club fee. We already paying it, so no difference) But when it comes to reservation, my fixed week can get to my choice easier due to there is more inventories for 2 Bedrooms in AC than the point system. I was surprised on the fact.

I am happy with both my fixed summer week and my points except that when I bought from the developer, I was told that they will roll over the unused point forever for me. I found out that we can not use the rolled over points for peak season. We can only use it in white, blue and red (not high red or ultra red). We also find out the forever roll over is only for one year. You would use it or lose it. We found out this after we become gold elite. So do not believe what the sales person told you. We do enjoyed early check in and late check out. We never been able to have the free extended stay when available because we never find the availability in summer at Atlantic City. We tried to use all the points in the same year and not to allow to roll over to avoid having to use in white or blue season.
