I HAD a Bluegreen Timeshare with 8000 points (not having the money to buy more points) every other year for about 10 years and worked shiftwork. With that it was very hard for me to get a location I really wanted to stay at or more than a few days. But I could almost always find the same 3 places. So after getting tired of paying the increasing fees every year and not be able to enjoy using the program, I was looking into legally getting out of the program. "Westley" and another group wanted over $5000 to get out. I found this site and heard about the "BG Exit Program". They were awesome! Very friendly, no pressure which I expected. With my dues caught up (a must), I had to pay an additional 18 Months worth of dues, $1,300, sign paperwork & get notarized. Email was sent back confirming my legal exit from the program. Whole process was a little over 2 months. Great Christmas present being out of this. Now that I'm retired, I can go where I want, when I want. I would definitely use them.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience @Willy1962 .
It really is simple, but you sharing your personal experience means a lot when people are contemplating doing this.

We are hopefully in the process of deeding back a week 23 at Blue Ridge Village, managed by Bluegreen. The contact said not to pay the fees for 2025, which was great news.

I hope to get some paperwork from them in the next few weeks. They said it would take 30 days about 3 weeks ago. The process requires a title search. We paid a large special assessment and now we are getting out. Wish we could have gotten out before those special assessments.

@rickandcindy23 Please keep us posted regarding the timeline and any cost to you. In the past, fixed week ( not point) owners had no out of pocket costs to surrender their deeds.

I am considering exiting, but I’ll probably re up one more year. The only use we get is bonus time occasionally. The Udi I own has such a high housekeeping fee that two bonus nights are almost the same out of pocket cost as the housekeeping fee. And strangely enough, bonus time is available, even the weekends surrounding Fourth of July, especially if you are willing to pay for two nights and only get one.

we Udi flex week owners are a little worried. One of our members set up a Facebook page where we could discuss ownership and another page where we could post rentals. Suddenly both pages disappeared and the owner stopped responding to emails. We don’t know if he was shut down by corporate or what happened

Bluegreen/Hilton had Facebook close down a very well know, very large resale group without notice. @rapmarks

This was a very small group, but the other group shut down was extremely small and people didn’t post much And it was not rentals.

I have been away from posting on this site or many years. I stumbled on this site again when I was researching about deeding back my points ownership to Bluegreen. I just started the process 2 days ago. I was getting tired of the overpriced maintenance fees and club dues. I still own a week at Gatlinburg Town Square that we use every year and is still has reasonable maintenance fees. So, maybe I will poke around here a bit after all this time away.

Wife and I remember rapmarks, we even met once at CMV, doubt you remember but glad to see you are still around.

Yes I remember you, from the old days when Udi were worth money.

Have you already paid the 18 month fee?
If not, there is the option of selling.
Happy to point you in the right direction if interested.

Your opinion. Are fixed or flex week owners allowed to rent?
Fixed or float weeks that ARE weeks, not BGVC point ownerships can rent as they have different governing documents.

I do not know what your UDI ownership is considered.
I know from @brucecz that some UDIs were blended so the primary red week got 9K BG points.
But the majority are not that type.

Suggest you ask @scottwilson and @kevinjcollins on Facebook.

Most of the owners say we can rent, once when I called to change name, the agent said my ownership could rent, but the scuttlebutt is that bg shut down a multi Udi owner and that is why all the sites are gone. This person took a lot of Bruce’s udis and added more. None of his ads are up anymore and he had a lot of them and also had his sons involved.
it’s maintenance fee time, and time to decide whether to keep or let it go.

I agree with @chriskre that you let it go thru default but only you can decide.
I know it is against everything you “think” is the right thing to do but it is likely unsellable.

For people in the Midwest, this is a great deal.
not exaggerating to say I made over twenty reservations this year, and I was extremely sick and didn’t work at it.
but I already have a home in the resort, so I can’t use the resort.
my family always came for a week, but now they have health problems too.
my exchanging days are over, so I have not deposited for years.
i am not cut out to be a landlord, though I did break even every year.
because most of you only heard from Bruce, you think he invented the rental market here, but in actuality there are several Udi owners who have many more ownerships and had a thriving business long before Bruce. We used to have large yahoo groups and Facebook groups, but those are gone now.
but someone who wants to use the time in the Dells has a terrific opportunity with a Udi ownership. And the Dells is a big vacation spot in the Midwest , getting about five million visitors a year to a town of 5000

Yes, I already paid the fee. I can't believe anyone would want to pay over $1,800 in maintenance fees for 12,000 points. The resorts I could get into are not worth that much. We have much better accommodations for this money using AirB&B, etc.

My daughter rents cottages from an owner, way cheaper than our cost as an owner, and prime time too

You can probably get a rental from RCI as well with some planning.
BG still hasn’t taken mine back yet but they rarely call me and just sent me an invoice for $4K for the 2 years owed. No legal fees tacked on so that’s interesting.
Still I am not paying it but I find that interesting that they aren’t even threatening legal action.

I was not implying it is not a good ownership.
Just that if BG won’t take it back and you don’t want to sell, you can default.
Only you can decide if it is worth it to you For your family’s use.

Interesting they haven’t contacted you other than the MF bill.

Exactly the problem - you can rent the same accommodations on Expedia for less.
And yes, nicer accommodations for the same money.

15 year owner here, at that time the value was there.
MF my first year were $0.42 pp, 2025 $0.1052.
Problem is any resorts added to the VC in the last 15 years is at least double the point requirements.

Your 12,000 points would get you two weeknights at the Manhattan Club for $1,800
You can rent there for under $450 a night.
