Wondered if anyone had every purchased sunglasses through BJs. They say they can do polarized and Transitions, but she wasn't sure whether they were rated for both UVA and UVB rays. Anyone had any experience with them?

When I did some price shopping for regular everyday glasses, (not sunglasses), BJ's prices were high so I went with Price Club (Costco), which was significantly less for the same thing (straight-line prismatic trifocals in my case, because I'm nearsighted & cross-eyed -- fortunate to be able to see at all).

Our ophthalmologist says all sunglasses sold in the USA -- even the Dollar Store specials -- are required to provide UVA & UVB protection, so that should not be an issue if you decided to go with BJ's.

Thank you for that info, Alan. I can get the sunglass frames, polarized lenses and with Progressives (bi focal no-line?) for less than $150.00. We don't have a Costco close to us in Vermont, so BJs is still cheaper than Pro Optical.

All the walk-in eyeglass places are too rich for my blood. The last ones I got came from here: http://www.zennioptical.com/ Just be sure to get a full 'script from your optometrist- including pupilary distance (you can do it yourself, but why?) My coated, lined bifocals come in around $45 complete and delivered to my mailbox. If the frames need adjustment, the local Costco, Sears, or Shopko optical is happy to do it gratis and I'm good to go. My doc looked them over and told me his lab couldn't produce glasses any better for 8-10X the price.

We've been getting eye wear from BJs for years. Then one year DH decided to get his glasses through the eye doctor. Those were the worst glasses he's ever had so we went back to BJs this year.

My glasses came from BJS, DH's from Sears Optical. Mine are much better quality than his. Both cost the same, $100 pair including frames. Both are bifocals, his with lines, mine with no lines.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. Think I'll save some money and try BJs.:)
