Hi,

We will be headed to the Westin Ka'anapali for Spring Break :whoopie: , and my daughter will turn nine years old while we are there. Does anyone have a bakery or cake recommendation? Ice-cream cake? We only need to feed four and we still want to look good in our bathing suits (ha ha :D ). Should I just pick something up at the Safeway in Lahaina?

How about Haupia instead of a cake?

Not anywhere near the Westin, but Stillwell's, Komoda Bake Shop and Maui Bake Shop are considered the best bakeries on Maui. They are in Wailuku, Kihei and Kahului. Also in Wailuku is Home Maid Bakery, which is known for its Mochi, but does make a few cakes. But I would go with one of the others if I were looking for a top-notch cake.

If you're a chocolate lover, you simply cannot beat Costco's All American Chocolate cake. Downside: forget the bathing suit because it'll serve 15.

Seriously, my reco is to support the local bakers if you can.

Thanks for the replies :) . I'll google those "local" bakeries and see what they have. Kihei may be a good idea, since we could pick something up after visiting the Maui Ocean Center that week.

Oh, and my DH does not like coconut, so Haupia is probably out.

Since you'll be on the Islands, I'd have an Island treat like the Mud Pie at Kimo's. I think your daughter would remember that for a long time. Hey,lifes tough when you're having your 9th birthday on Maui. Happy Birthday in advance!!!!!!
