Need the group’s help. We will be at a family event in B’ham and then on to Orlando. The eight to nine hour drive is more then I want to do in one day. Open to suggestions as to route and where to stop over night.

Thanks.

Steve

If you fancy a trip into rural FL, then head for Perry. It puts you on 98 going south, which is not a bad route. The nearest Marriott hotels are Tallahassee if you want to stay on brand otherwise in Perry is a Holiday Inn express and a Hampton inn or range of independents.

Tallahassee is just over halfway there, and there are a few Marriott brand hotels in the area.

We live in Tallahassee have traveled the route both to B'ham and Orlando routienly. Generally the Marriott Brands there are on the higher end price wise both and points wise but there are a couple right off the interstate and a ton of nice places to eat.

Route wise Dothan to Tallahassee by way of Bainbridge, GA will be the best quickest way to Tallahassee but you might have to set GPS to avoid toll roads as there is one across rural north Tallahassee that is not maned. Depending on how late you'll be leaving, the Marianna exit off I-10 taking 231 all the way south to 1-10 is a good stop. Cheaper hotel options and several places to eat.

From Tallahassee the fastest way, if there are no I-75 holdups, is interstate. Going through Perry and turning toward Ocala at Chiefland will add about 20 minutes to the trip but is a comfortable and pretty drive.

I was amazed how pretty a drive NW Florida is. And hilly! Who knew??
