We are going to a Surfwatch for first time March 13/16 for 5 nights. We have biking as one of our must do activities. What is cost of rentals and is biking near the resort good? Very excited for hilton head. The kids in our group are 17,13, and two 10 yr olds. All decent bike riders. Adults another story!!

There are paths that will cover the island. Also, the bikes can go on the beach so you can ride up or down the island in the sand as well.

They aren't expensive to rent from the resort....maybe $35 for the week..Not remembering the exact figure but in that range. They will provide locks and helmets for free upon request.

While at SurfWatch we like biking along the beach or over to the Shelter Cove area which has expanded since they put in the new Towne Centre and community park. At low tide there's a very wide expanse for biking; access to Shelter Cove on the other side of 278 is via a bike path that goes under 278 near the Palmetto Dunes entrance. These are the onsite rental prices from June, 2015.

2014 @ HHI Marriott Grande Ocean, I think the resort fee was $10/day or $30 week.
I recommend renting for the entire week from the resort. I'm not a biker...and I loved it!

I agree we always rent from the resort SurfWatch. They are great to deal with. Rent by the week is cheaper.

Yes, rent from the resort. At Grande Ocean, there was a bike rack right outside our villa, so you only need to deal with the bike rental folks when you pick up your bike(s) at the beginning of the week, and then when you return your bike(s) at the end of your week. Biking is a great way to see the island.
