If you are heading south out of Princeville just past the curved bridge there is an enormous waterfall on the Mauka (mountain) side of the road. Unfortunately, there is no place to safely park to see it.

Anyone know what it is called???

We could see 13 waterfalls from Alii Kai this last December.

The UKG simply identifies it as one of a two "Twin Unnamed Waterfalls". The twin is on the other side of the road. The stream is a tributary of Kalihiwai River, which is the stream crossed by the curved bridge.

In our first visit to Kaua'i in 1999, there was a parking area on the Makai side of the road, between the falls and the curved bridge. The parking area has since been eliminated - most likely for safety reasons. After parking your car you had to hike back to the falls along the edge of the road.

The Movie tour calls them

the Paula Abdoul falls, as they were used in one of her videos.
:whoopie:
Back when you could park there, the chickens were thick, I named it chicken falls and now we call it chicken valley.

Having had to slam on the brakes many times to miss idiots in the middle of
the road on a blind curve, all I can say is I'M GLAD they removed the parking area.
It was even worse back in the mid-80's before they made the road wider.
