I should probably know this, but which Big Island resorts have good beaches, and which is the best beach? What makes it so great? I'm thinking if I want to walk out of the ts and dip my toes in the water, which is the best BI ts to do that?

I don't think there are any Big Island timeshare right on the beach. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me though.

We've been staying in timeshare on the Big Island for at least 10 years now and I haven't run across one.

The best beaches on the Big Island, in my opinion, are Hapuna Beach and the beach at the Mauna Kea.

There are a couple of T.S. in Kona that are right on the ocean but no beach--all lava rock.

I agree with Luane. We own at the KCRII which is own a golf course. It is 5 minutes from a great snorkeling spot. Our favorite snorkeling spot is Place of Refuge. We also love horseback riding up in Paniola. The Botanical Gardens in Hilo are spectacular, and Volacanoes is not to be missed. With so many things to do, we have never missed not being right on the beach. Mauna Kea is one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Hawaii. I have not seen the beach at the Four Seasons.

Down to eight sleeps and we'll be there!! Actually seven since we're in a hotel by the airport next Wednesday night.

No timeshares on the Big Island are on a swimmable beach. There are several ($$$$) resorts, however, that are on nice beaches: Hapuna Prince, Mauna Kea, Fairmont, Four Seasons, Kona Village & Marriott Waikoloa to name a few.

I believe the Mauna Kea is still closed due to the earthquake damage. I went there with my family back in 1968 when it was the only resort in that area. I still think the beach there is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen.

I get periodic mailings from them. With every one, I hope I won't be reading about a further delay. Finally having a goal for reopening is much better than the "closed until further notice" that was published for a long time.

One big challenge for me: As I move into retirement later this year, I'm not sure I'll be able to afford those room rates any more! :(

After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"

Most of these have very good to outstanding snorkel areas however . . . with beach access to non-guests at their hotels. One of our favorites is at the Hapuna Prince.
