Resorts Owned
Ocean Towers
I’m an EOYO owner at Kohala Suites (Max) and am here currently. I hate the presentations, but my wife wanted the $200 gift card. They were really pushing dual ownership, stating that we can stay at “all the other resorts”. I asked, “Isn’t that what Max is all about?” Basically the response was: “Max give you access but not availability…”

In the end, the offer was EOY, even, 6500 trust points, for $16,400. The kicker was the 42,000 Bonus points. Intriguing, but no deal. I did buy the $1695 VIP package. These are good for us, as they fill in our alternate years for less than the maintenance fee.

Yes, you probably could get a better deal. We originally got 8000 eoy points for $16,900.

Wow, a TS salesperson actually told the truth! :)

Good choice to pass, if they were offering trust points those are HVC (old DRI) not HGVC like you have. HVC collection points can be picked up free...

dual ownership means Diamond + HGVC? not surprising. They give Max to new retail buyers but doubt they have much demand from "legacy" owners

"offer was EOY, even, 6500 trust points", for $16,400" ... Must be Diamond trust. plenty of those given away free @ $0.22 MF/pt. Assuming the MFs on that are about $0.22, the $16 K is KAPUT. The 42K bonus might be worth $5,000, unless you do a masterful job using ALL of them, so maybe only $11,400 is KAPUT

Run.Far.Away.
(with your $200)
(Hope we can help you save the 16k).
You are welcome :)

Ugh… my wife will put up with anything to get a deal. I keep saying, “no more!”

Glad for the advice on this site. The 42k bonus points was tempting at first thought, but then I reminded myself that I probably wouldn’t even be able to use them all in the next couple years.

I am interested in buying more, resale, and I’m looking at supplementing my current EOY ownership with another Hawaii deed.

We're just the opposite. I won't go for just any deal, but there are things for which I'd deal with an "update" since I know how to shorten them most of the time. mrs. brp is having none of it.

Cheers.

$200? Ask for more next time. I was able to negotiate Marriott up to $400 last time.
