Biennial strategy question

After some exhausting effort, I have noted that Biennial listings tend to be easier to get, and appear - at least on the surface - to have lower maintenance costs.

My question is this - would it be a valid strategy to save money by getting two biennial timeshare packages (odd and even) rather than a single annual package? If so, what would be the downsides?

Since I currently don't have access to RCI, I have very little understanding of whether one approach or the other would be any better or worse.

EDIT on this - I now realize I might be calculating the cost/point wrong, as well. The mainentance fee would, I presume, be every year, but the points only come every other year, so I think I have to double the cost/point computation

I think this probably needs moved out of the Free Timeshare forum, but if you have any specific questions on RCI or want me to lookup something in their system, feel free to drop me a direct message.

I just found a tip on how to join RCI without actually owning a timeshare, trying it now, but that is a very generous offer and I may take you up on it - thank you!

I don’t think there is a way to join RCI like that. Let us know if THAT works.

With some odd or even year timeshares you pay half the maintenance fee every year(most common). With others you pay the full maintenance fee on your usage year(less common).

Be careful as some systems charge membership/management/club fees per ownership. This means you will pay double membership/management/club fees if you own one even and one odd ownership.

For my EOY Marriott GV, I pay half the maintenance of a full year week every year.

Ya, I'm not familiar with anything like that either. You can retain RCI after giving up a timeshare (and not mentioning that to them), but I don't know a way to join without any ownership.
