Current Worldmark Owner looking to get a Wyndham contract - Can someone please explain to me how Biennial contracts work? I saw in the estoppel letter the term "use" in the year they were awarded. My question is - If I buy 200,000 points in an even year to I have to TRAVEL in only even years or can I just BOOK in even years (or transfer to RCI) for even or odd years. I'm a little confused by the wording in the estoppel. Thanks in advance for your help!

For internal use, your travel has to take place in an even year. You can deposit points into a future UY, but (a) I am not sure if that is also limited to even years and (b) your housekeeping tokens are awarded only in the even years. So, even if you could deposit to an odd year, you'd have to buy a housekeeping token (right now: $159).

If you deposit to RCI, they are good at least until the end of the month two years after deposit, and you can use them any time in that period. No housekeeping tokens required.

My sense is the limitations about when you can use them and how HK tokens work means that an EOY as your only Wyndham ownership is maybe not a great idea. But, I do not own one, so hopefully others can chime in.

I used to be a big proponent of biennial contracts being able to function almost exactly like annual contracts, but changes over the past 5-6 years have made me do a 180 on that. Only buy biennial as your sole Wyndham contract if you plan to travel only in those biennial years. If it's part of a larger portfolio of Wyndham points (either annual or biennial in the opposite year), then it combines and reduces/eliminates those limitations that bnoble mentioned, or I guess if you want to use it largely in RCI (though there are surely better way to primarily use RCI).

While you only receive points in specific years, you are not limited to traveling only in the year you receive points. You can also rent or borrow points, allowing you to continue to experience flexibility with your vacation ownership when you need a quick getaway in an off year.

- I have a EOYE that fit my personal needs that is used specifically for particular resort that I wanted 13 month window for Christmas to New Years and a few small annual contracts that cover everything else.

Having to pay for housekeeping tokens if needed in the off years might not be terrible compared to RCI exchange fees.

I vacation Heavy (2 or 3 vacations in my USE year), deposit enough for a off year for a week and eat the HK fee. VS RCI totally worth it to me.
