Placed a want ad for a 9/19 Disney timeshare rental
So far have I have gotten 2 texts saying that the unidentified person texting had units available
In both cases I asked if the person was a Tug member
In both cases the answer was yes
I then asked for their user name
First gave me the user name of a guest with 3 posts all concerning rentals
When I questioned that person as to how I could verify the rental was legit they said they could send me a copy of the reservation
I asked them to do so --still waiting

About the same with the second text I received but this person said their Tug user name was BrianTUG
Good name to have on Tug but not one that will cause me to send this person any money

As always "Buyers Beware"

I agree. We've seen several people scammed here on rental wanted listings. Being a TUG Member and being active on the boards are two different things.

This is always a good read as a renter.

if you are contacted by a scammer or someone claims they are a TUG member and you want to verify, you can always reach out at tug@tug2.net

while we wont give out any personal membership info, we are happy to confirm claims of membership or not, as well as ban known scammers from using the contact form in the marketplace. the downside of course is once they figure out they are blocked, they simply just create a new free email address.
