FYI - Believe I just received an extremely sophisticated and polished email fish hack - came from email-marriott.com - looks like a fish to me from everything I can tell - offered a platinum elite gift - just click and chose your gift and then OH you need to enter and change your password (the hook/gotcha)

I don’t believe this is a scam at all. My husband and I are each lifetime platinum, and although only he received the email, I logged into Marriott.com directly to confirm our free gifts of key tags? saying so. (The requirement to update passwords was met a few weeks back, when I logged in to conduct other business)

It’s probably real. If you haven’t been on Marriott site, it is making you change your password.
Best way to check is go to the Marriott site directly.

If you are lifetime Platinum or Titanium, you can check out your gift selection by going to the lifetime dashboard at

It is real. But to accept the gift (yes, it is a luggage tag), you must permit Marriott to sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

I’m sure most companies we deal with are already selling our info.

I believe that sometime in the past week or so a security breach was discovered - both Marriott and Disney required that I change my passwords on the same day. It was just coincidence that you happened to be responding to Marriott's email rather than making or checking the status on a reservation.

I also got the email but no prompts to change my password. Maybe because it was changed a little more than a month ago? I dunno. Signed up for the luggage tag and am expecting to have to delete at least one more email every day. It's expected now, and the only ones that really bother me are the ones that automatically change your subscription terms every time you put in an order. I shop online Macy's, Old Navy and Joann Fabrics regularly, and it seems every time I put in an order my mailbox is flooded all over again. It's a vicious circle of Subscription Opt-out, Order, Email confirmation, junk email, opt-out, order, confirm, junk ... it's never-ending!

It's real. I am lifetime titanium and I followed to link to my account, logged in and accepted the luggage tag gift.

Received my luggage tags via UPS today. They are quite nice.

For those concerned about usage of their personal information, I found this in the FAQs:
"What is my contact information being used for when I opt-into the gift?
Your contact information is only being used for the fulfillment of your luggage tag set. Marriott Bonvoy® is not using this information to contact members outside of luggage tag set delivery."

Was it email-marriott.com, or email@marriott.com or email.marriott.com? It would be very poor security practice to have a separate domain from marriott.com, such as blah@mail-marriott.com

Wow, these types of practices are what support phishing scams. Consumers should be able to look at a large company's domain name and have it be consistent across all brands/divisions. They can create different subdomains if they choose to distribute traffic, etc, such as mail.marriott.com or owners.marriott.com or mvc.marriott.com, etc.

Using random domains makes the internet less secure. It loks like Marriott only uses this domain for email:

No. Keep the luggage tags.

I just got these a couple of days ago and I have to say that this is a very nice appreciation gift. I was pleasantly surprised.

It's just two luggage tags, but the packaging and quality are on the high end. I'd definitely put it above almost all the "appreciation gifts" I've gotten in the past from other companies, and I've gotten quite a few.

Hopefully this is also followed up by getting some domestic upgrades at hotels! :)

Got mine and Wife immediately claimed the one on the left. So well done Marriott.

I got to thinking about this and looking back at my emails from November, I did get this tempting offer. Ahem.

Based on others' success, I decided to go ahead and order mine; thank you dj_drf for looking into the fine print of the marketing check-box. Now, if I am deluged with spam, I will send it your way!! ;)

Of course, it also says it will take 12 weeks to process. I will have forgotten all about it at that point.

Ours came yesterday, and for whatever it's worth I haven't been inundated with Marriott spam during the five weeks since responding to the email offer.

Mine arrived this week. The one on the left will go to my daughter for her new Travelpro that she is getting for Christmas. Just in time for our week inOahu and one more in Kauai before she goes back to college.

Received mine a few days ago. No complaints for the price I paid for them (nothing).

Already on the luggage!

Happy Holidays to all.

My luggage tags finally arrived and guess what? I had forgotten they were in the (12 week) pipeline, just like I thought I would. Square black box addressed to hubby and he was clueless what he'd be getting from unnamed sender. I am sure he was hoping for something different!! Haha. But the tags are nice, the box is over the top and I have to wonder what it costs to manufacture and then mail? Very sturdy, perhaps there's some titanium hidden in there somewhere.
