We have been to Maui four times in last ten years so we do know the area.

Problem is we are not people that walk around going to timeshare tours for the freebee's and because of this really only know about places we have stayed!

Last two trips we stayed in top hotels and this next year want to go back to Maui. We have a (Request First) in with II covering from Mid April -June 2008
for our vacation. We have requested Westin,Marriott's Maui Ocean Club and would like advice on any others that we might like in Ka'anapali area.

We had II call us last night and told us we would get one of our choices but of coarse talk is cheap! We would like to go to Maui but not end of the world if we don't. We then will enjoy our resort for July 4th 2008 in Lake Tahoe and the fireworks show on the lake.

I asked the agent when we could pull our unit if no trade letting him know we will gladly keep our unit. They have tried to get us to deposit our unit last two years offering bonus weeks and we didn't.

I told agent all this and looking at our file he promised we would get one of our choices again.

I just do not want to miss out on a very nice resort because we don't know about it.

We want to check out the new Marriott being built too!

THANKS! PHIL

I heard the Kanapali Beach Club (formerly Embassy) is ok and so is the Whaler. Just that I heard of in that area

I don't believe the Whaler is timeshare. It's fee simple condos.

The Whaler shows up in the II book as available for exchanges. I'm not sure how often they come up though.

I have read very good reports about the Kanapali Beach Club and if you get oceanfront or view, your view is beautiful over the ocean and you look out over both islands too (Molokai and Lanai). I also heard that the condos are refurbished and look very nice. I don't know if they are all done already.

The Whaler Inn has timeshare condos too because there are TUGgers here who own there. It is a condo project but has the same beautiful ocean view too. :)

The new Marriott Lahaina tower will be very nice with two or three bedroom lock-outs. It should be open this summer. :whoopie:

I noticed some re-sales on the market too so you can buy them cheaper already. ;)

Are they part of the MMO or will they have a diff Interval code?

I looked up the abbreviations in II and see only one but it isn't open yet. I noticed that RedWeek has two sections for this timeshare condo where they list the rentals and sales.

We own two weeks at the Whaler (for 10 yrs). One-third of the two towers are timeshares; however people rarely trade their weeks and if they do, they do not favor II. I believe they use Trading Places Hawaii. We do private trades or sometimes SFX ourselves.

Is Lake Tahoe your only timeshare? We are not using one July week in 2008 but not interested in Tahoe.

kapear: You are correct on both accounts -- a happy owner :)

It is rated 5 star with II

I own at Sands of Kahana. If you can get one there, take it.

Lisa your resort looks very nice and I am sure we have driven past it because we love this upstairs lunch house across from the park and ocean.:whoopie:

I showed it to my daughter after you talked about it and she liked it but likes the large pools and falls and we really don't swim in the ocean. Don't understand such a nice five star not having air conditioning though!

We did add your resort to our list on II today!

One thing I always tell people looking to buy is "Buy where you love going to spend week every year" and this way you will never be disappointed!

If we don't get what we want we will enjoy the fireworks show on Lake Tahoe!
