Back on the thread...please

Hopefully I can redirect to the original question regarding Best value trader for SVO :)

1) If I bought a Westin or Sheraton floating Plat resale, would I need to pay attention to the actual listed deeded week...does that have any relation to my abilty to reserve that specific week versus whatever float week they have available? Does it change what week gets deposited with Interval? From what I can gather, Starwood will deposit whatever it wants into II ...even for resale owners, right???

2) Was this a good deal? I bid 800 for a SBP EOY Plat 1 BR...outbid at the last minute and the auction was won @810...what is the price range these go for in terms of EY and EOY 1BR and 2BR's.

Thanks in advance!

First of all, some resorts have seasons and the week only floats within it's season, so you have to double check that. Whether Starwood will deposit what you want or not is not set in stone. You can ask, but they still have the final say. No matter what you ask for, you are unlikely to get a holiday week or a higher season than you own.

I don't follow the resort, but have you looked at the ebay sales data base in the Owner's Resource Sticky at the top of the page? There are also 2 links there for open and completed Starwood ebay auctions. If you aren't sure if that's a good price, you should do more research before you bid again.

That is very helpful.

If using primarily as a trader, does it make any difference for ease of initial reservation to buy a fixed plat week versus a floating plat week.

Thanks.....Charles

That's a good question - my guess would be no, because Starwood is unlikely to deposit your exact fixed week anyway. My guess is that any week in the same season will have the same trading power, unless it's a big holiday week, which Starwood probably won't deposit for you anyway.

What do you think, gang?

Because of my obsessive/compulsive nature, I've been tracking e-bay resales for many different Starwood resorts. I'm attaching my list for SBP Plat. Let me know if you have any problems with it. I'm sure I've missed a few along the way, but this should be fairly complete.

If you're not in a rush, I'd take your time shopping--I think prices will be going down.

Nice list! When I look at the staroptions chart for SBP, it is divided into two sections. Unless I'm color blind, only the Palmetto units have a platinum season. Does this have any relevance while shopping for SBP resales? (i.e., should one verify that it is really a Palmetto unit being sold and not go merely on season in order to ensure the week is really platinum?

Even though Starwood has now coded the prime season at SBP in the original phase as "Gold Plus," they were originally sold as platinum. The Platinum season in original phase runs weeks 9-43, 47. In the original phase a Plat 2 bd LO is worth 81,000 options; a 2 bd non-LO is worth 67,100. I'm pretty sure that all the units on my list are from the original phase.

With the Palmetto phase, the original Platinum season was split into Platinum (weeks 24-35) and Gold Plus (weeks 15-23 & 36-42). The Gold Plus weeks have the same valuations listed above; while the Platinum weeks (24-35) received a bump up--2 bd LO worth 95,700; a 2 bd non-LO worth 81,000.

So when buying a SBP unit resale, you will definitely want to be sure which phase the unit is in and which week it is deeded to.
