What is the best timeshare near Asheville, NC? Needs some thing late in April 2014 or early May 2014 to tour the Biltmore House Estate.

We will be exchanging thru II. We have already check The TUG Resort Database for the area.

We are looking for a two (2) bedroom unit with a full kitchen.

Any advice will help. Thanks in advance.

There is nothing very close. There is one property at Lake Lure, probably a good 45 minutes away.

We used Lake Lure as a base for that area, including a full day visit to the Biltmore in Asheville.

I haven't visited the Lake Lure property. I have co-workers who go there for a golf trip every year and like the area. The times I needed lodging in Asheville my husband's band was playing there and the drive in the wee hours of the night didn't seem attractive. We stayed in hotels instead.

Since we live only a couple of hours from Biltmore, our visits there have been day trips. I just won two tickets for Biltmore from a radio station. Was disappointed to see that they can't be upgraded to an annual pass. Guess I'll wait and visit in the spring for the incredible flowers.

We owned week 16 at Alpine Village near Burnsville NC. We made at least 3 trips into Asheville each vacation. It's about an hours drive, less during daylight and good weather.

I think that's an RCI resort but you might think about renting. When I owned, renting was less than MFs.

I am very familiar with the Sapphire Valley area and Lake Lure. We have visited the Highlands/Cashiers area for over 20 years and are going to retire here or somewhere near Asheville. Unfortunately both TSs that you have mentioned are not really convenient to Asheville. Distances in miles in the mountains are deceiving. It is not practical to use Sapphire Valley as a base for spending a lot of time in Asheville. Lake Lure is a little closer, but I still wouldn't consider it if I wanted to spend most of my time in Asheville. There is plenty to do (great restaurants, spas, hiking, shopping, etc) if you stay in Sapphire Valley, given that Highlands and Cashiers are resort mountain villages; you could do a day trip to Asheville. Not much to do in Lake Lure other than fish or water sports in the summer, but it is beautiful.
