I usually just buy my garden plants from the local FFA greenhouses. Support the local schools and the prices are reasonable. For the last couple of years, however, they have been growing more flowers than veggies, so there hasn't been much of a selection.

I had planned to go online and order seeds, particularly heirloom tomatos, earlier than this, but finally started looking today. There are so many companies to choose from, I just can't decide. Burpee is one of the most expensive, but I know their reputation.

Is there a company you particularly like to order from or any varieties that are especially yummy? I really need to get these ordered tomorrow. I especially like low acid tomatos like the yellow ones.

I usually plant about 100 tomato plants in several varieties. It's my favorite summer food. Sweet corn is my second favorite, but the drought and the raccoons always defeat me on the corn.

I just placed my Burpee order yesterday. I agree that they are expensive, but I have had zero problems with their service and products.

Any of you tomato guru's know how to find the "cherub" tomatoes that are sold in the grocery stores year round? In our area, they are in yellow and red round containers with the hole cut out of the top. My guess is they are some sort of hybrid, as I can't find them anywhere I've looked.

Many thanks!

I searched and found them. They are either an exclusive of the producer, or they are just calling that shape by that name. Anyway, I've seen tomaots with that shape in seed catalogs. Try Totally Tomatos or Burpees or Park Seeds for them.

No, they're not cherry, they don't squirt like those do :) They're sweeter.

I'll take a look at the places suggested, thanks!

After much time online looking and choosing the most yummy looking variaties, I've decided that I'm just not ordering enough to justify any company's shipping costs. All of the ones I looked at were in the $5 range for my $10 orders.

If anyone knows a company that ships free or cheap, let me know. I wouldn't think it would cost much to throw three packets of seeds into an envelope. They would probably go on one first class stamp.

I guess I'll just go look at the local nursery and hope for the best. Thanks for the suggestions.
