We have a week from 2022 that we need to use this year or it expires. Thinking FL since it's an easy flight for us. We have 2 teens, and want a place that they will enjoy. Fun pool, waterslides maybe, activities, etc. We probably won't do any of the "big" parks but rather other fun FL stuff.

Was looking at Grande Vista. Would this be a good option? Open to all suggestions, even if it's not FL. International Flights are crazy right now, so would like to state in the US. We went to Harborside in 2022 (home resort) and the kids loved it. I know I won't find something like this in the US - one can hope, right??

Grande Vista and Cypress Harbor both have lots of amenities and activities. I would pick one of those. Or if you are open to other Florida locations I think Ocean Pointe would be an excellent choice too.

I would say Grande Vista or Cypress Harbour, Harbour lake my teens (13yrs last visit) still loved but its defo more younger kids aimed than the other two I mention.

I’d suggest getting a fun pass for sea world if you stay at vista or cypress. They can go in for a few hours each day and then hang at pools and do resort stuff.

I would suggest either Lakeshore Reserve or any of the Palms properties. Lakeshore Reserve has the lazy river and two waterslides. It is also closer to Gatorland, one of those other FL fun things (I guess as we have never been). The three Palms properties provide access to the Orlando World Center Hotel with a great slide tower. There is also a waterpark, but there is a fee to utilize the waterpark. I have a video that compares all of the Orlando Marriott Vacation Club properties on my YouTube channel.

I should add, there is a new waterpark at the JW Marriott colocated with Marriott's Lakeshore Reserve. There is a fee to use, but it is cheaper than the one at the World Center.

I also would suggest either Grande Vista or Lakeshore Reserve as dioide45 has suggested in his above post. Also, I would watch all of dioxide45 YouTube videos to compare all of the Marriott’s resorts in the Orlando area.
Please enjoy you vacation in the sunshine state.

I think teens would really like the World Center facilities. The pool there has large TV's that are great for sporting events and there are a lot of things to do. The Palms are also the closest MVC resorts to the Disney parks. I would suggest Imperial Palms for the 3 BR for more space, or Sabal Palms which is the closest to the World Center resort facilities. There are two large water slides that are free, in addition to the more extensive Water Park facilities that require a daily fee.

Be aware that the 2nd bedroom at cypress Harbour has 1 bed and a pull out sofa that leaves little room to walk in the room when out.

I have now officially been to all the MVC in Orlando!

For teens I would say Grande Vista for a self contained resort with lots going on (or cypress if the beds work). Not sure how old the teens are and how far you want them to wander.

Staying at one of the World center TS resorts gets you use of the big pool and slide at World center and the option to pay your way into their onsite water park. There are restaurants at world center including a food court good got snacks. When we were there last April the tennis & basketball area was in disrepair and closed. Each TS has its own pool in addition to world center hotel.

Just stayed at Lakeshore and loved it! They have a nice Lazy River pool. It was cold when we were there but it didn‘t feel like there was much going on. Nice paths to walk around the lakes over to the JW & Ritz and great restaurants over there. I believe you have to pay to use any of the facilities at the hotels.

I Also recommend the destination timeshare YouTube videos- it’s really helpful to get a look at the places yourself.

I am sure that all three of the timeshares at World Center get you access to the pool and slide tower. The slide tower is actually three slides. Two tube slides and then also a drop slide. The World Center Hotel is an easy walk from Sabal Palms where Royal and Imperial are further and one might prefer to take the shuttle.

Do you know the current prices of one vs the other? And do you know if there are still blackout dates for the JW pool?

Ok, I had to read this 3 times to see why you were commenting.
I didn’t mean just one of the 3 gave access, I meant staying at one (any one) gives you access.

The free slide tower did look fun but if my kids were still teens they would have been begging for the water park on the other side of the fence right there within view. When we were there in April you needed to make reservations on site and it was already booked for the most of if not all of week by Sunday afternoon. From your link it looks like you can book in advance now.

Sabal is closer, but I walk that the whole complex- I never took a shuttle.

Walking is fine but most times we are there they are doing some kind of construction in the convention area and the walk ways up through the main entrance to the hotel have been closed. It is about a half mile from Royal and Imperial to the main entrance of World Center Hotel, so that is something to consider when deciding which one to book.

NICE to see great parents, who want to make sure their kids have a great vacation.

I hope your kids realize how lucky they are to have caring, loving parents.

Teenagers should be able to make the walk from Royal or Imperial Palms if an old fart like me can do it. Exercise is good for them. ;)

Perhaps, but I won’t guess their circumstances. Also, others that happen upon this thread later may be happy to learn the walk is a half mile and that a shuttle is available.

The World Center itself is extremely spread out, so the shuttle is more convenient for going to the main entrance or if you are carrying things to go to the pool. I usually walked the 'back way' to go to the large fitness center at the hotel, which is located closer to Sabal Palms than to the main entrance of the hotel. Sabal Palms is definitely the preferred location for hotel access, and has slightly larger rooms than Royal Palms. Royal Palms has a nicer pool and larger workout facility than Sabal Palms. The shuttle can also be inconsistent because of staffing issues, but that may have improved since my visit in December 2022. I'm at Surf Watch right now, and the walk to the beach from some buildings is about the same distance as from Royal Palms to the hotel entrance.

I think there is a big difference between 13/14 year olds and 17/18 year olds in terms of what they want to do and how much you want to supervise them. Where the younger teens will like the pools/slides the older ones will probably want to roam around and do other stuff including getting away from the parents. Grande Vista gives the older kids a lot of options and IMO is safe and secure as a property. I would find the Palms very booring if I were a 17 year old.

I would add Disney's Swan or Dolphin hotels, only because they are literally next door to Walt Disney World. I mean, the hotels are built on WDW land, but Marriott manages the hotels and leases the land under their two gorgeous hotels. You could take the hotel's shuttles to the theme parks, or walk next door to DVC Yacht Club resort and hop on a Disney Bus. Same with the Skyliner, literally within walking distance. Disney's mini-golf is also within walking distance. The only thing is, Swan/Dolphin customers can not use any of the amenities at either Yacht or Boardwalk, just like a Wyndham can not use the amenities of a nearby Marriott. Dolphin and Swan hotels are a little pricey, though.

The closest skyliner stop to the Swan/Dolphin/Dolphin Reserve is at the Epcot International Gateway entrance which is about a mile on foot. One would be much better off taking a Friendship boat to Epcot or Hollywood Studios.

It's just over half a mile. Even the Skyliner at DHS isn't quite a mile but it's close.

So it's not right there. Thanks for confirming.

In Disney walking distances half a mile is "right there" LOL

That's my view plus one can take the boats to either locations then the skyline if desired. And it's a fairly enjoyable walk over the EPCOT, less so to DHS.
