Best NYC property - Quin or Central at 5th?

Hi, I am not looking to buy, just to use points. I was thinking of a few nights in one of the NYC hotels because I live in NJ and do not need to pay for airfare etc.

Which is the nicest property (for just two people) - The Quinn? The Penthouses at the Quin? The Central at 5th?

Thank you!

Any one of these will be nice. Depends on availability and last minute location. If you own one of these you will want to stay there to use the lounge. Non-owners do not have access to the lounges so no real difference except for the considerations previously mentioned.

Penthouses at The Quin, particularly if you can get the 1 BR Penthouse (1H2). It spans two floors and has two terraces and an actual kitchenette. The penthouses there seem a bit more unique than the units I've stayed in at The Residences, W57, or the Hilton Club - I haven't stayed at The Central. Of course, I'm biased now as I own at The Quin.

W. 57th is nice for a couple. And a very intimate feel.

Cheers.

We just got back from the Quinn. We stayed at a studio on the 6th floor facing W57 and were not impressed. Lots of road noise and the room seemed worn out and dated. Bare spots on the floor and in the bathroom. Had to call maintenance since the sink didn’t drain. I thought the Quinn was a newer property?

Quin (one 'n') is new as a HGVC property, but the building is not new. Still, I'd have expected things to be updated.

As for road noise - this is NYC, and 57th st. Road noise is part of the equation. We book rooms that face 57th at W. 57th and get road noise all the time. Wouldn't have it any other way in NYC.

Cheers.

I like the W57th rooms better than the one time we stayed at the Quin. Seemed dated to me as well.

The OP asked about Central on 5th. Anyone have any feedback on that? I've only stayed at the Quin so can't compare.

The Central is very nice. It’s the newest property and was expressly built as a timeshare much like West 57th. During construction, I was told it would be a near copy of West 57th. Ive stayed there 3x and did not get that feeling. It is nicely appointed and has nicer bathrooms with Toto toilet. I was not a huge fan of the location as I prefer West 57th and The Quin but it grew on me though the street (48th ?) is not as high end. It’s very close to St Patrick’s Cathedral and Rockefeller.
