I’m sure this has been discussed ad nauseam, but I did a quick forum search and I didn’t find my answer.

What’s the best Wyndham Myrtle resort? I booked next may into a two bedroom high floor ocean front ocean club but can move if somewhere else is a better fit. It’s me my wife and six year old daughter so nice pools with plenty of lounge space and chairs is a plus (I was a former HGVC owner and we stayed in Myrtle Anderson club and there’s very few chairs around the pools and they are relatively small). Also being on the beach is great for beach walks after dinner.

Any help is appreciated. I just recently upped my Wyndham points and got rid of HGVC so we are exploring the system and trying to find the locations we like the best.

We liked the Marriott’s OceanWatch resort in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Sorry I should have clarified. What’s the best Wyndham Myrtle.
Ocean Boulevard is the flagship
Seawatch is a mix use property (part Wyndham, part private)
Towers on the Grove is smaller and owned by Wyndham
Westwinds is an older smaller resort with just basic condo amenities

Try Ocean Boulevard first. It's generally the most preferred.

I'd try for SeaWatch Plantation with your desire for "nice pools with plenty of lounge space and chairs ". The resort itself is beachfront (though most units do not have an oceanfront view) and offers several pools with lots of poolside seating, a nice Tiki bar and plenty of kid-friendly activities. The reason I'd give SeaWatch a slight edge over Ocean Boulevard is because it has some lower rise (read: lower density) buildings so the pools feel more spread out to me and the pools may be a bit less crowded. Maybe.

A close second would be Ocean Blvd with a good number of pools & pool decks with generous seating. 3 of the (tall) Towers are on the beach side of the street. The (tall) Tower 4's pool (on an upper level deck) is usually least crowded since it's across the street from the others and the majority of resort activities, and few of the rooms have a nice ocean view so Tower 4 is less favored overall. We like to stay in Tower 1, 2, or 3, and visit the Tower 4 pool if the others have too much of a party atmosphere.

Westwinds is quiet, smaller, with just one, modest-sized indoor/outdoor pool, limited lounge seating, and few family activities. We like it for off-season, adult-only stays with oceanfront rooms. Beautiful views, walk out onto the beach.

Towers at the Grove is very nice too, but like Westwinds, it has fewer resort amenities than SeaWatch or Ocean Blvd. It feels more like a regular condo complex to me than most resorts we've enjoyed. It's been several years since we stayed there and I don't recall if the pool decks were sufficient or too busy - just that our young adult kids wished for more pools and amenities at the time.

We prefer Ocean Boulevard in North Myrtle Beach, Towers 1 or 2. Lots of amenities, especially for a 6 year old. Lazy River is great; only 3 feet deep with lots of tubes and lounging chairs. Ocean is just steps away.

And the 2nd choice would be towers on the grove if she's 42 inches. They have a slide and a lazy river.

If you book SeaWatch be sure to get a Tower unit if you want a view of the ocean. They also have Villa units which don't have an ocean view. However, you will have a less of a walk from your unit to your vehicle if you stay in the Villas.

Actually not all units in TOTG are Wyndham owned. This was originally a private condo building when initially constructed (I believe back in 2008). Most of the units are Wyndham owned now - but there are still privately owned units at TOTG to this day - we were looking a few units that were for sale at TOTG when we were there last year.

Our children are now adults - so we prefer TOTG because it's quieter. OB is a madhouse compared to TOTG. Children everywhere all of the time - lots of parties sponsored by younger folks. More noisy as a result - but definitely more amenities and activities for those with children. TOTG does have pools, a lazy river with a waterfall and slide and so forth.

Not all units at SeaWatch are Wyndham owned either. Wyndham has 39% of the units at SeaWatch (228 of 589 total = 38.9%).

Before committing to Towers on the Grove, compare square footage with same-class units at SeaWatch and Ocean Boulevard. I've never stayed at TOTG but I think I remember that units there were smaller than at other resorts (according to the directory, which has abundant inaccuracies).

Edit: My favorite 2BR unit at SeaWatch is #1604 in the South Tower. It's a corner unit with a wrap-around balcony. Check photos in my post in the View from the Balcony thread. Units just below would be essentially the same. (I think Wyndham has floors 12-16)

Is OB a madhouse compared to TOTG or a madhouse in general? We are going second week of may (week before bike week). Hoping it’s quite then.

OB is a huge resort with four large towers, so it just feels much busier and more crowded than TOTG IMHO - which is only a single tower in comparison. OB is definitely good for families with children without a doubt.

We just prefer TOTG as we like the Cherry Grove NMB area better. If you are going on the shoulder seasons then it’ll be less crowded than prime season regardless of which resort you choose.

We need to try Seawatch at some point. We always reserve a three bedroom oceanfront unit at TOTG at present. Does anyone have a recommendation on a Seawatch room number for a three bedroom unit?

TOTG units are smaller, but they also have floor to ceiling glass windows with ocean views across the entire unit. The 1 bedroom ocean view is perfect for 2 adults. Here is the only video I could find, its a little hard to watch but it shows you can watch the beach from bed.

I do. In the South Tower (Tower 1), units ending in 05 on the 12th, 14th, and 15th floors (there is no 13th floor). They are three bedroom deluxe units with a balcony that runs the entire width of the unit. Unit 1605 is a 4BR Presidential unit.

Edit: In the North Tower, units ending in 10 and 11 are (I think) 3BR Lock Offs. Also, in Villa 1, the end units (ending in 01) are 3BR Deluxe.

A 2 BR oceanfront at TOTG is 115k points. A 2 BR oceanfront high floor at OB is 200k points. Any reason to stay at OB? That 85k points difference is probably a week in Newport off season.

Just make sure you go with the deluxe floorplan. The bedroom and living room are both ocean front compared to only one in the regular units.

This is another reason why we choose TOTG - less points. As someone else said - choose the deluxe units whenever possible. We love the three bedroom deluxe units at TOTG as the master bedroom has its own entrance to the oceanfront balcony via a floor to ceiling sliding glass door. Since we usually go from late May into early June timeframe, we can usually leave the sliding glass door open at night with the curtains closed and enjoy the sound of the ocean while drifting off to sleep. Very peaceful at least for us.

Thanks for the room recommendations! This is great detailed info!

Thanks. I was gonna move to TOTG but they are going to be undergoing renovations until April 15. We are looking to go may 7. I think it’s too close that I’ll be running the risk that we may be there during renovations. But nice to save 85k points .

If you have enough points to do it I'd reserve both and wait until it gets down to the 15 day window to cancel. ToTG might be completed and it would save points.. We stayed at ToTG for the first time last month and liked the location and the resort. We had a one bedroom oceanfront. Our layout had the entrance in the bedroom, then the kitchen and bathroom across from each other and living room looking out at the ocean. There was very, very little counter space in the kitchen.

A few years ago we stayed at A Place at The Beach, Windy Hill, North Myrtle Beach. We had a three bedroom one level. It was nice and quiet, right on the Beach. They have two bedroom units a little further down the street.
The next time we went we stayed at Wyndham Ocean on the main blvd. It was noisy and crowded. We liked the first place better. We also stayed at South Beach HICV on a stop over heading home from visit to New England.
We prefer to stay in North Myrtle Beach, especially when just two of us.

The problem is - Wyndham will cancel the overlapping reservations unless I guess I add a guest name.

I took a gamble. Did TOTG to save the points. It should be done by may. Fingers crossed.

Did you get the deluxe floorplan or the regular one? The regular 2 bedroom ocean front floor plan is terrible. You have to walk through a bedroom to get to the living room. Plan E below is the regular 2 bedroom.

Plan M is the 2 bedroom deluxe ocean front. Both the master and the living room have an ocean view.

You can also be put in the B2 floorplan if you book the deluxe 2 bedroom ocean front. Both bedrooms have an ocean view in the B2 plan. If you do book a deluxe unit, ask for a room that ends in the number "34" and both bedrooms will be oceanfront and have a balcony. I just called the resort because I was curious (I own 400,000 TOTG points). They verified that all units with the B2 floor plans are categories as a 2 bedroom deluxe, which can be combined to be a 3 bedroom lock off.

Add your spouse, if they are on the reservation.
