We are planning a Europe trip next year. Any thoughts on the best Marriott hotels to stay at in Paris (location, price, service, etc.)? Any and all input or advice is appreciated.

Several years ago, probably 15+ when I think about it we stayed a week at the Marriott Champs Elysee and had a wonderful time! Definitely recommend!

Last year, we loved the Westin Vendome on Rue Di Rivoli not far from the Louvre. Great location and great classic property.

I hate to ask stupid questions, but why would one want to stay in Paris at an American hotel? With all the great Boutique hotels in the City of Light, why not explore the best of them?

Good question. We have Bonvoy points that we could use. As they keep getting devalued, figure it's better to use them earlier rather than later. Also considering an AirBnB, so wanted to compare the two options.

I've stayed in a number of Parisian hotels and the rooms were pretty small. In one, Hotel Pontieu, I could lay in the bed and rest my feet on the wall to my right ... or left. But, I enjoyed them, nevertheless. I spent most of my trips at Le Meridian, which really isn't a traditional Parisian hotel.

I will echo what others have said. The ability to earn Bonvoy points drives us the Marriott properties or Hilton properties to earn Hilton Honors points. But maybe just as important to us, we are just more comfortable with the familiar American brands - a bit of home in a distant land, and we know what to expect.

We stayed at Marriott Champs Elysee twice and really enjoyed its central location. We walked to lot of attractions. The subway station is not far away as well.

I was doing some research before we decided to just use the Vacation Club and train.
This is what I got from the Titanium Bonvoy Facebook group -
Lots of recommendations for Westin Vendome
Others include Prince de Galles, Renaissance Arc de Triomphe

We stayed just a bit off the beaten path on Avenue Wagram at: Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hôtel and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Fabulous breakfasts. This was about 5 years ago...

We stayed at the Westin Paris Vendome several years ago and loved the location, view from the room and easy access to everything. Very nice area and the hotel has the look of a Parisian boutique hotel - not like an American hotel room.

Marriott Champs Elysee, Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hôtel and Westin Vendome are all great. Just different locations. Can’t go wrong with either.

I recall staying at the Marriott Champs Elysee during the final day of the Tour de France bicycle race several years ago. Talk about a great spot!

Enjoy Paris! Walk the city and don’t forget to get some pastries!

I can provide some perspective on our decision making.

Twice, during stays in Europe (London and Paris), over the past 25 years, there were monumental, public safety compromising events, local (same city) to where we were staying. These events were of significant scale, so much to have shut both cities down. In both cases, we were staying at Marriott hotels, at the time of the two, horrific events. On both occasions, by the time that we got back to our hotels (seeking refuge/safety), both hotels had been sealed tight, and admission was granted, only after a careful screening process, by Marriott. It turns out that Marriott is a company with a multitude of standardized policies, policies that are implemented at Marriott hotels, worldwide, and in both cases, the hotel leadership at both hotels had turned to Marriott's playbook for directions, when there is civil unrest, locally. It was clear to us, that the sophistication of Marriott International's guest safety and security, and hotel security, were such, that this would be cause for us, as American's, to stay at Marriott hotels, when we travel, internationally. Hence, Marriott is our #1 choice for lodging, when we travel, internationally.

The other thing that we learned along the way of our international travels, is to have "International SOS" membership, when we travel, internationally. In both of the cases that I referred to, above, the International SOS "Alarm Centres" reached out to us, by phone and email, to confirm our safety, well-being, and location. In so far, we put a premium value on our International SOS membership, when we travel, internationally.

So, as much as some who prefer "raw, International flavor" when they travel, of the hotel that they stay at, refer to Marriott, as McMarriott, we are entirely comfortable sacrificing some degree of raw, international flavor, in favor of our American-based company, safety and security procedures and corporate values, worldwide. As someone with a keen interest in process engineering, we find comfort, confidence, security, and reassurance staying at hotels that are managed with the same precision and consistency, as some suggest, of McDonald's.

We have stayed central city Paris many times. But MVC is our absolute favorite. Beautiful resort and a quick train into the city.

Loved Westin Paris Vendome. We stayed this past June, got the small suite and it was perfect for the two of us and our toddler. She had her own room and own bathroom. And as far as Paris goes, was the cheapest Marriott suite we could fine. Location was fabulous.

We stayed at the Moxy. It’s meets absolutely none of your criteria (I guess price) :)

It was fun, though, and super inexpensive (not even worth considering Bonvoy points). And the breakfast wasn’t bad.

My biggest concern about staying in Marriott hotels in Paris is the huge amount of pts they want. 105K or more per nights seems crazy.

We loved our stay at the Marriott Champs Elysee several years ago was great but only 65K pts / night

Agree with others, Champs Elysee spectacular. Close to everything. But, yes, very point intensive and very pricey since we were there more than 10 yrs ago. There are a couple of others not so steep in good areas. Renaissance, Courtyard. My son stayed at Moxy this year. No frills but close to sites and a free breakfast. Too bare bones for me, but fine for him.
