Hi all, I am looking for your thoughts on the Hyatt resorts in Colorado during the summer. Which in your opinion is the best/things to do or see? We are a family of four (4 year old and 16 year old).

I would definitely say that Breckenridge has the most activities in the summer. There is a great activity park at the base of Peak 8 in the summer, which includes 3 toboggan slides half-way down the mountain, as well as a roller coaster, miniature golf, and various other activities. The town of Breckenridge is also great in the summer, and Silverthorne is close by as well. Horseback riding and river rafting are also a close drive away, which is also true for the other Colorado Hyatt properties.

I have stayed in both Avon and Breckenridge in the summer, and Breckenridge is definitely better, especially with kids along, IMO.

I second Breckenridge... wife and I stayed there last July and had a fabulous time. Breckenridge is a great town and pretty much the entire town is in walking distance from the Hyatt. It is also a real town... we drove to Vail and Beaver Creek and while they are both beautiful they are resorts, not towns.

Also the Breck gondola is free in the summer unlike Beaver Creek/Vail which can save a lot of money if you want to ride up and hike, bike, visit the fun park etc.

Also Copper Mountain is close by to Breck and they also have a lot of fun stuff for kids and the cost is very reasonable for a day pass to ride as much as you want.

I highly recommend Kayak Lake Dillon and for horseback riding Gore Range Outfitters!

I love Breckenridge too. The only problem (for us) is the elevation is a good bit higher than the Avon/Beaver Creek area. Last time we were there, my daughter and I had problems with the altitude..

I have stayed at all four resorts in CO. Although Breck is in a "real" mountain town, the quality of the units do not compare to either Aspen or The Residences in Beaver Creek.

Personally, I would choose the Residences at Beaver Creek, if you can get in. You have the village, the mountain, plus all the amenities of the hotel.

Either way you go, you should have a great time.
