For those who have access to DEX and have used it, what is your favorite hotel? I am looking for a beach getaway but am open to any suggestions.

That is a very broad question. Do you mean resorts or hotels or both?

Really anything available to book on DEX. I am not as familiar with the search platform and I wanted to see if anyone had any favorites.

The search function, in DEX EU, is terrible. You been search by property and geography but it about half works. That are tons of availability there though. When I ran it for North America, it was over 75k weeks...

You have the Mexico properties, like Cabo Azul, the Hawaii properties, the California properties, Fl, etc.... Many beach ones. Some folks really like the San Diego property. Cabo Azul is nice.

Yes I agree that the search feature is really awful. Cabo Azul looks very nice! Is there a way to filter for highly ranked properties? Or would using the tier filter be best? IE - higher the tier the nicer the property.

No, the tier is just the level of the units. I mean, you could have a tier 6 room at a crappy property. It doesn't necessarily align to the quality of the property but you could, sort of, use it as a proxy.

For example, HGV just raised the tier levels across the board for HVC properties from last year to this year but it didn't mean that they, all of a sudden, became better properties.

Got it that makes sense. Looks like I will have to try to narrow down the properties using trip advisor or something of that nature.

I search by continent/region for non-US and then by state in the US by the maximum time (2 years from the current date), and sort by arrival date.

You can sort by tier also, just depends on what you are looking for.

Unfortunately I don't have much of a game plan. I want to use a week, and I tend to gravitate toward tropical or beachy trips, but I don't know where I wanted to go. I was hoping for some suggestions. I will see if there are any standouts on the DEX EU site.

You can pick destinations and choose beach. I search by property for the ones that I know but then by region to explore

Cabo Azul is nice, if you want to go to Cabo

That is correct it’s HVC. My way in, since I’m Legacy HGVC and not Max, is via DeX EU or RCI.

If you are planning to fly again from Jan-Mar and could use a free companion ticket on any of those flights- then yes it could be worth it. Especially if you just have to register and then cancel and rebook and its still the same price you paid already.

What is the San Diego property? grand Pacific Palusades in Carlsbad?

We stayed in the San Luis Bay Inn last Spring in an updated Room. It was nice and had great views. Though it is not on the Beach.

Where do you want to go? You can not get to DEX via owning HGVC Paradise.

I also own in Scotland and have access to EU DEX when I deposited my week. My issue is that I’m all over the place and don’t have a specific location in mind. I was hoping to get feedback from other users who have used DEX and really liked where they stayed.

If you search “Grand Pacific” then there will be several Grand Pacific Resorts that pop up. Several near the beach or a short drive. But that’s mostly Southern California and close to home.

What about Sandestin? Cabo Azul? HI?

Using DEX, in addition to Cabo Azul in San Jose del Cabo, I would suggest Grand Luxxe either Riviera Maya or Nuevo Vallarta. Both are beach locations and very well appointed.

We used DEX to stay at Anantara Bophut in Koh Samui. Used our HH points to stay at the conrad in bangkok. Wow all the way around. We exchanged 8000 points for our 1 week stay at Anantara, I think our room went for about $9000/wk if we were to book it traditionally. It was one of the resorts seen ot the latest season of White Lotus.

The Conrad Bangkok is one of my favorites... Stayed there many times. How was Bophut? We had a week booked there in the 2 bedroom, week before last, but couldn't make it so left it empty. Also had the week before booked at the Anantara Riverside in Bangkok and left it sitting there empty. Offered it for free to friends but no takers.

Bophut was a gorgeous resort. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The pool area and beach area were great, the sand is quite coarse and sharp on that part of the island. Def not the sugar sand im used to on the gulf coast. The street right out front was busy but that was part of its great location, as it was just a short walk to fisherman's village and the night market. The spa had great services, hard to use them when a 400 baht massage is available on the beach. The conrad just finished upgrading many of their rooms and I was very impressed with all the little things. Having the 7 eleven right downstairs was so nice.

Ugh...we were looking forward to that trip.

In the connected little mall, you can go to the food court and get decent local food for cheap. Plus, they have a great executive lounge. I have eaten many dinners there

Thank you all for the great recs! I love Mexico and Hawaii so definitely have my eye on those resorts. The big trip will have to be Thailand when I can get the dates to work out.
