Welcome to a TUGGer from UK. We spent three delightful weeks in Scotland and Northeast England thru Dial-an-Exchange a few years ago. To me, the only negative was driving on the left, but I survived.
We have stayed at Bent Creek and liked it very much. We had an excellent 1 BR deluxe with fireplace, washer/dryer, etc. and certainly found it excellent. It is worth mentioning that Bent Creek is maybe 10 or more miles from the very urban town areas of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The resort was very well maintained with pretty grounds and absolutely no noise or clutter, there is a good grocery directly on the road back into Gatlinburg.
Our Great Smoky Mountains National Park is just beyond the Town of Gatlinburg witha huge wilderness area with good hiking trails, overlooks, waterfalls, etc.In summer there is a great outdoor drama concerning American Indian history in Cherokee, NC perhaps thirty miles away through the park.
The nearest big international airport in Atlanta, GA has nonstop service to UK.
Here is the Diamond Resorts website which gives ploor pland unit ares, etc.
