We've been coming here for around twenty years for weeks at a time, mostly in December and again in late January and through half of February. We have always had beach views on higher floors until this month, when the number of beachfront units available has really decreased due to construction on the beach side. Our view from the 15th floor overlooking waterways leading up to the city proper is interesting, especially on a clear night. Unlike the beachside, it is quiet. Obviously, there's not much to see once it gets dark apart from the lights on the few freighters holding in the water. That said, our preference is beachside. One of the four elevators was down for service in all of December; I never would have guessed that here in February it's still down. Not so much as an explanation from the management. On the days when people are leaving in droves while others are coming in in droves, the elevators are a mess, especially with 25% of capacity unavailable. Otherwise, with a bit of patience, it's very manageable.
We've only come here once during spring break time - years ago - and learned our lesson. That's when we spend time at one of our other favorite places, Ocean Point. They don't have that problem. Interestingly enough, what my wife remembers in the elevators that year at BP is that the young men were very gracious and often conversed with us, but the young women would quite purposely ignore anyone not in their clique.
"People watching" during spring break includes drunken young people on the beach, loud music coming from various directions, and very skimpy bathing suits. I dare not comment on all of that, except that we once had to turn over a young man who was so drunk that he fell into the sand face-first. We turned him over to make sure he was breathing. A bit later, some other guys carried him away.
