A few of the buildings are completed including some of the villas.

picture is building 1 closest to ocean.

one building being done at a time.

Also fresh new paint all units.

I'd really like to see some photos of the interior of any of the remodeled units if anyone is lucky enough to stay in one.

I'm booked for two different 1-bedroom units in September, so I'm hopeful they'll all be done by then!

We were there in November and the units closest to Kohala were being re-done as well as some of the Villas. We started visiting Waikoloa in 2009 and this is the second time they have dona a remodel of all the units.

HGVC is generally pretty planned out and adequately funded for there replacement programs and updates.

We are in building 2 (unit 211) and can see that they are renovating building 1. To be honest, we are not sure if ours has been done or not. It is certainly nice and comfortable, although I don't see any multi-use soap dispensers or bathroom mirrors with lights, and our bed does not seem new. TV is large and great.

I was wondering about the TVs they are replacing, the living room one was huge last time we stayed, still nice equipment. It may be to upgrade to the new style that lets you control it with a smart phone.

Interesting how fast tech is changing from going to Blockbuster, then Netflix by mail and Redbox, then streaming, now all in the smart TV with phone control and casting.

We were told new artwork also.

the flooring is vinyl plank with additional insulation sound proofing. We looked in a window and the color of vinyl floor was medium to dark brown.

we saw delivery truck this morning with both 55” and43” LG TV’S.

we were told appliances were not being changed. Bathroom fixtures also will stay the same.

KL TVs allow casting, but they don't "rent" movies.

Cheers.

yes. a shame they removed the free DVD kiosks, we caught up on movies I was too cheap to pay for at the movies. My son liked the Playstation games also.

System wide I wish they would upgrade the in room coffee brewers.

I hadn't known that KL ever had them. Yes, a loss.

I really like the coffee makers at KL. large pots that dispense on demand from a carafe.

Cheers.

OK, here is the update from the front desk. Buildings 9 and 10 have been redone (they apparently started in the fall); Bldg 1 started in process after the holidays, so our unit in Bldg 2 has not been redone and if they are updating this TV I will look forward to seeing it. @SmithOp may be right that it will be the next level of smart TV.

There is still a DVD kiosk at the Bay Club Cafe near building 3/across from 4 and the coffee maker is a Hamilton Beach Brew Master (with no glass carafe).

There is yoga Sunday and Thursday 8 am and Pilates Tuesday 8 am and the teacher is very good. There seems to be music several happy hours here and T-W-Th at Kingsland shopping center.

Also, no one who loves art and Asian and Hawaiian art should leave the area without going to the Hilton Waikoloa Village hotel complex. There is incredible art (gigantic statues, ceramics, paintings, woodwork) everywhere but especially a very long promenade walk that is like walking through a museum. I took some photos but they don't do it justice. Just take the shuttle to the hotel, or walk, and look around. It is something like the art at the Marriott Kauai Beach Club but lots more of it and much of it displayed like a museum. Amazing.

Hilton Waikoloa Art has not changed much over the years. However some of the pieces have to have increased in value. I would love to tour with an artist professional who knows more about Asian Art than I do.

Asked for some pics and had these sent to me. New Luxury vinyl flooring , new furnishings, painted from top to bottom, backlit vanity mirrors in the master, corridor and balcony painting. They are on schedule to finish by early summer.

Looks really nice. I might have to work Bay Club into our next Big Island stay.

They appear to have done a nice remodeling job. The floors look very nice and the furniture nice, updated and comfortable looking.
That is one of the reasons I never complain about the yearly maintenance fee. I want the units to be as close to perfect as possible.

I was looking at the pictures, not sure of the source, but I did find it odd that the first picture was a 2 BR A Penthouse floor plan. 2nd Image is a 2 BR B. 3rd image is a 2 BR A Master BR. Not sure why they jumped between unit types. You can see one has a larger living room and an L shaped sofa, the 2nd image has a smaller living room and just a straight sofa.

If you are not into getting access to HWV pools then Bay Club has the largest units of the 4 HGVC in this area. They also have massive lanis.

We just got home from 2 weeks there in one of the not yet remodeled units, which was very nice. The remodels will be a great addition and I was happy to see that they are adding soundproofing. The Bay Club was apparently originally built by a Japanese company (according to the yoga teacher there) as condos. They are large with great closet space and nice spacious lanais. The 1 bdrms have 1.5 baths which is always a nice addition.

Yes they were sold as wholly owned condos and then the recession in the early 1990s hit. There used to be several units that were still wholly owned, but I do not know if HGVC every attempted to buy them out. I have owned there since 1996 before HGVC was even in the picture. The land that Kohala is built on is land that Bay Club owned.

There is one unit that is still privately owned, #622 purchased in 2019 for $525,000. The monthly HOA fees when it was listed back in 2017 were $1704.

The owner does not reside in Hawaii, primary residence is in Midland, MI
