Basic Interval membership vs Platinum?

Is it worth the extra fee to upgrade from basic Interval membership to Platinum level?

As is almost always the case, the short answer is "it depends".

If you are able and willing to travel in shoulder seasons or off seasons when II has Getaway availability--or if you will be using II multiple times per year and therefore making the $50/exchange fee savings worth the extra cost of membership, I think it's worth the extra cost.

II also makes certain Getaways available for a limited time only to Platinum members but--in my experience--I have rarely been able to take advantage of Platinum visibility because of location or time of year.

The main benefits to consider are the $50 getaway discount, the $40 upgrade fee discount and the five free guest certs. If you utilize those enough to save the cost of the Platinum membership fee, then you should upgrade. If you will never use those benefits, then don't bother. The other listed benefits are hard to quantify moniterally and I don't use them in my analysis.

I will add, I only upgrade when I'm ready to utilize a benefit, like purchase a getaway or buy a guest cert, etc. No need to start the clock ticking on the term if you have no intention of using it. NOTE: They state priority viewing of getaways is a benefit, these are few and far between. Not worth buying for that IMO.
