Bare Escentuals is having a special promotion from November 30th thru December 2nd. You can shop at their stores, or online at BareEscentuals.com and get 20% off with the code BEFamily. You can see the whole announcement here.

They charged me 7.95 for shipping, but there was no sales tax, which would have been a tad over $5. It was a good deal, at least for me.

I LOVE Bare Essentials! Totally hooked. Happy shopping!

Thanks Fern - I don't "need" any BE but who can resist a coupon? Also I spotted a BE set at Costco tonight.

Costco, wow, that's really interesting. I must check out ours. Thanks for the info.

I went to Costco.com and found a mineral make up named Colorevolution but no BE online.

There are several different BE "Starter Sets" available, and if you are just starting with Bare Escentuals they are a good deal because they include a couple of brushes. Their brushes are top quality, and normally very expensive. The starter sets are about $60. at ULTA and include two foundations, a blusher and a mineral veil (finishing powder) plus the brushes. Sephora has a similar deal, different price and items. The foundations, etc. are smaller size than the ones you'd generally buy, about half size, but that's still several months' worth, and with the brushes I consider it a good purchase in the beginning.

I've tried a couple of other brands of mineral makeup, but the original is still the best in this case.

Yea, we are getting an Ulta......I wonder how it will affect the store (Bella) where I got my last BE product. Before that store opened, I had gotten some BE in Atlanta and even at the Atlanta airport.

Okay I've seen the ads for BE and the infomercials. Is it really as good as they say? And as easy (and quick) to use? How about the mixing to get your correct color scheme? I find myself very interested. I don't usually like wearing make-up but am finding such color variation in my skin as I get older. Looking for a quick, easy way to get everything even and smooth. Will BE do it? Also, is it hypo-allergenic and non-comogenic (sp?)? Anyone use it on dry skin? The medication I use clears up my acne but can make my skin dry and it will get flakey with some make-ups. Am willing to spend the extra money if it gives me the results that I am looking for (especially if it can be applied quickly and easily - not a morning person).

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

BE is definitely something you should try. My concerns were mainly the same as yours. I've worn makeup for years, because I have uneven skin tone (read red in spots) and also dry skin. I want something quick and easy, that looks good. Oh, and it should be hypo-allergenic, etc.

Well, I gotta tell ya, this is it. When you get a starter kit, it comes with two colors of foundation (which you choose from a spectrum). I started with the medium one, which has medium and medium beige. It also comes with mineral veil. The pods have shakers inside, so you tap/shake a couple taps' worth of both colors into the top of one of them (you'll easily figure out what is right for you). Then you load the brush, tap it to get the excess off, and then apply in circular motions (I do my left cheek, nose, and chin, then reload the brush to do the other cheek and forehead). Then you do a light dusting with the mineral veil if you like a "flawless finish," which is a matte sort of finish.

My skin is perfect looking now when I wear makeup (for the first time in my life) and I don't look like I'm wearing any makeup at all! It is so easy I am done with it in about two minutes. It doesn't irritate my skin, and it doesn't rub off. I'd give it a try. The starter kit (which doesn't qualify for a discount) has what you need to start, makeups, brushes, and a DVD explaining how to use it all.

Thanks so much. Looks like I'm going to give it a try.

Oh...2 more questions:

I'm very active - coach basketball, hockey, softball, and play some sports also. I don't have time to wash my face before many of these activities, especially coaching, but usually will work up a sweat. How does the make-up hold up in those conditions? Also, when out and about in the heat of the summer?

Also, do you know where I could get the best price for a starter kit?

Thanks again.

It holds up fine in the heat. I live in Vegas, remember?

I don't think starter kits are discounted beyond their normal prices. You can generally get them at Ulta, Sephora, or online from QVC or bareminerals.com . The cheapest starter right now is QVC's at $40. plus shipping. It has only one brush with it (which is really enough to start). Ulta's is $60. but includes three brushes, and shipping is free right now, so that is a better deal if you think you'll like it. Sephora has a similar deal now with free shipping. If you buy through bareminerals.com you'll pay $60., too, but also a shipping fee. But you get *four* brushes, and a small "well rested" powder, which I think is the easiest, quickest eye/shadow/highlighter I've ever used. This is really the best deal, cause it has a "satisfaction guaranteed or money back." But if you want to try first, QVC is certainly the cheapest.

Sets

I think you need the three brush set if you are going to use the foundation, Mineral Veil and especially a separate brush for Warmth.

I love this product!!!!

Thanks Fern. I actually have an Ulta store 5 minutes from my house. I'll look there.

Glynda - what is 'Warmth'?

I love this make-up too. I've never been a heavy make-up user, but wanted to cover some redness and even out my skin tone. I've been using this for 3 or 4 years now and have never found an easier, more natural looking make up. I also use the multi-tasking bisque or summer bisque with the concealer brush sometimes before using the foundation. It covers well, never looks heavy and really gives a nice finish.

I think "warmth" is an all-over face color. Not quite as much color as a blush. I must admit I get a little mixed up with all the different options they have in face color. My make-up saavy friend often laughs at me cause I'm always asking her what I'm supposed to do with the various products! Mostly I just stick with the basics.

The brushes they sell are definitely much better quality than many others I've seen and it is worth it to buy their brushes.

Good luck!

Warmth

You wear it as you would a blush or bronzer. It looks very dark in the container but is a great addition. I use it on the apples of the cheeks and up towards the temples, and then lightly over the nose and on the high forehead as well. There is a video on their web site that instructs on using the products...at least there used to be.

Boy I wish I saw this post in time. Count me in as another BE fan. I have dry skin and discolorations and I really like this. I thought because of the dryness it was better to use cream bu I was wrong. I moisturize and use the primer underneath the makeup. I find it lasts longer then they say too. My teenage niece started to use it a month ago and her complexion is dramatically improved. She could have been a commercial. The minerals don't support bacteria easily so I think that's why her skin cleared up. I bought my 15 year old a starter kit for Christmas. I also bought the one day gold holiday set QVC had and especially love the heavenly eyeliner brush that came with it.

QVC is having another BE event and its helpful as a learning technique too.

Tune in to QVC for Bare Escentuals

Darn, missed the sale, but wanted to weigh in. Like so many others who have posted, I never wore much makeup. Well, I am in my 50's now and find that...well let's just say it's a good idea to maybe wear a bit, lol. I love this stuff. I have to admit, I usually only do the foundation and mineral veil when I am going out but I do occasionally wear it to work and it is very quick. I would say, once you get the hang of it, you can do foundation, mineral veil, blush and eye shadow in about 5-7 minutes start to finish.

At first I was using the warmth as my blush, but I got a set called Three Perfect Blushes for my birthday and two of the blushes, "Laughter" and "Lovely" are wonderful, I use the "Laughter" for weekend days (it's more pinky) and the "Lovely" at work and in the evening (more of a bronze).

I also got a set called "Guilty Pleasures" which has I think 9 eyeshadows in it, and I love to play with that!

It holds up well under hot and humid conditions, especially if you use Minerval Veil over the foundation. Sephora also has BE products and I got an e-mail offer for free shipping on orders over $50.

I use warmth only on my forehead and the top of my nose (trying to make it look thinner :p ) and use glee for my blush. Sorry I didn't see this post earlier as well as I like to have backup. Linda
