I notice today that the Bali Hai has been added to Wyndham FSP inventory in the online directory. No details or points chart yet posted.

Randy

According to the sales pitch we went to in January the Bali Hai is 350,000 FSP to get a 2 bedroom for 1 week. Sounds kind of high to me.

The Wyndham/Fairfield web site also indicates that 1) this is a FairShare Plus Resort and 2) there are "Very Limited # Accomodations" available to FSP members.

This term about the number of accomodations available is defined in Wyndham/Fairfield's directory to mean that there are 10 or less units available each week to FSP members for booking. It could be as little as 1 or 2.

Is this showing up in Worldmark also?

Is the Wyndham Bali Hai Villas showing up in the Worldmark for booking also?

It will probably be limited until more Bali Hai members sign up for the Wyndham programs and thus put more units into the Wyndham exchange pool.

They're not getting ours. I am too happy with Shearwater and will never give that week back to them for some lousy points I can buy on ebay for $5K for 511,000 points! I am not saying Fairfield is bad, and I certainly would not mind owning a few-hundred-thousand points, but not by giving our deeds back to them. That three-bedroom unit at Bali Hai is mighty nice and will make a great vacation for the family next year or the year after.

Tony, we are headed to Shearwater on April 22nd, I just made our reservation today through RCI points. 82,000 points made it cheaper to grab with points than our maintenance fees cost on that week, which I believe were almost (maybe even a little over that) $1,100 this year. The week is going to sit there for a while until I decide what to do with it. :)

I hope we get unit #110 again, but Tony will not be there for a while after that. I thought it was funny that we stayed one right after the other, in the same unit, same check-in day last year.

I guess it cannot be in that unit because ours is a Sunday check-in day. We bought in 107, so perhaps we can ask for something above that one.

Cindy,

Actually with Fairfield, if you convert a fixed week to Fairshare Plus points, you retain ownership of your deed, week and unit. What you do is assign the week to Fairfield/Wyndham Vacation Owners' Trust for Fairshare Plus points. You can always terminate the assignment and go back to square one with your week and unit.

Your 10 to 13 month reservation privilege with FSP at your resort is limited to the fixed week you own. If you have a floating week, you can use the 10 to 13 reservation privilege at your resort for any week up the FSP points you own.

From 10 months in, you can use the FSP points anywhere in the Wyndham/Fairfield system including your resort.

I also own at Shearwater, but our week is deeded "Fixed w/ Float Option". I wonder how that would work with the Fairshare Plus points?

Can someone provide this website? I want to check more into this.

TIA~

Edited to add: Never mind. I just found the website.

Tia,

Many years ago I converted a floating week at Avenue Plaza New Orleans to Fairshare Plus, this happened after Fairfield (now Wyndham) bought out Equivest much like has happened with Pahio. I have NOT regretted the decision.

I still have my deed, and access to my home resort at 13 months out. But at 10 months out I have access to all of FSP. I love the flexibility. I realize for some people they love returning to the same place, same time every year, and doing so will save some extra fees paid to FSP monthly. But for me my lifestyle is much less predictable. I am sure you will be receiving and offer from Wyndham at some point, I believe they normally charge $2395 for a conversion to points, and I would think you would be given a discount offer. (Someone more knowledgeable please jump in).

You should also look to see if the Pahio resorts are included in the Outrigger Club which would mean that you can select Hawaiian FSP resorts 12 months ahead, jumping the FSP pool by and additional 2 months.

Personally, I look forward to visiting Kauii at some point when they are available. And hopefully some Pahio owners will have the chance to visit my home resort on the Big Island. Variety, the spice of life :)

Cindy, we will be at The Shearwater on the 21st of June. We will be in unit 109, it has a Thursday check in, and is an end unit, thus it has more windows than the middle units.

Did you find anything on the website?

Randy, Thanks for your very detailed info. I appreciate it. Another question, if you don't mind. Since you can keep your deeded week, does Wyndham/Fairfield have a system where you can simply deposit your week (not points) in exchange for another week at one of their resorts? I really don't want to convert to points.

Tony... Nothing for Shearwater at their website. I was hoping to understand their system more, but I'm still clueless.

Btw, Wyndham has been trying to contact me, but I haven't been home to take their calls. That's what they said in their email.... I asked them if they could just email me instead. We'll see.

I'm hoping to get a current update on the PAHIO/Wyndham situation. If they tell me something of interest, I'll be sure to post it.

Yes and No. FF has a very old system call FAX for the fix/float week owner, where you can deposit the FF week and exchange between week owners. You just pay membership fee but no exchange fee. I believe the pool size is reducing and it only contains originally FF resorts.
