Bad News from Chase Saphire regarding Priority Pass

Looks like there is already some discussion in this thread;

I have had Chase Sapphire for a few years now. Not really impressed with the fees and the benefits. Have not found the lounge benefit useful either

We are sorry to hear this as we have enjoyed using the restaurants in a number of instances. Just one more benefit that is lost. However, we do use the lounges when available.

If I recall correctly, I believe they are building their own lounge at Sky Harbor in PHX. Not sure when it opens. I wondering if they are opening their own lounges elsewhere? Or do they already have them?

Yes they are. The other locations that are coming soon are Las Vegas, Philadelphia, & San Diego.

Plus they have opened locations at Hong Kong, Boston, JFK, Laguardia, and Dulles (Partnership with Etihad Airways on that one)

Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club is at Sky Harbor PHX Terminal 4. It's listed in Priority Pass but when we went there they refused PP entry. So it all cuts both ways. Why it's still listed I have no idea.

Chase Sapphire has some lounges they are adding for members with Chase Sapphire Reserve credit cards. Looks like big changes to the PP lounge access for CSR cardholders. They took away the restaurants, now they are taking away The Club access at some airports.

Are you sure they weren't just busy? PHX shows Terminal 3 does have a lounge, but I see nothing in Terminal 4.

Denver added a Golf lounge of some sort in Concourse A, but it's not something we are interested in. We enjoy the Capital One Lounge with our Capital One Venture X card. Food, beverages, food to go, great cookies and snacks. Not that I need the cookies, but the last visit, a little over a week ago, they had warm salted caramel cookies. Oh my. They also had brownies, oatmeal raisin, oatmeal chocolate chip and of course a bunch of pastries that Rick cannot resist. I even grabbed a pastry and a cup of great coffee.

Our son keeps asking why we don't get the United card for access to the lounges. He knows we fly United quite a bit. It's expensive for the card with lounge access.

Do you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card? You should have gotten access to the lounge with that card.

It is listed because it’s a Priority pass lounge- but access is limited if your PP membership is not from a Chase eligible card.

If your priority pass is not from a Chase card you get one visit to any Chase Sapphire Lounge per year. Not one visit per lounge; one visit to any Chase Sapphire Lounge per year (excluding Hong Kong which is unlimited for all priority pass members)

If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve or a Ritz card you can unlimited visits to any Chase Sapphire Lounge.

The Chase Lounge in PHX is fantastic! I was just there 2 weeks ago. Easily the nicest airport lounge I have ever been to (though I have only been to like 6 or so total)

They have a really extensive cocktail menu several that use local ingredients. There is a huge window behind the bar to watch flights move which is cool too.

It was very busy and there was a waiting list when we arrived. But we got access in 15 minutes or so.

Chase is not talking away Priority Pass access. The new Chase Lounge network is in addition to the existing priority pass membership for CSR. So you will still have access to all the existing priority pass lounges like “the club”

We have Priority Pass via our Crypto.com Visa. We even showed the attendant the listing in our Priority Pass app. They refused to let us in. The attendant stated No Priority Pass allowed without specific Chase Card and told the guy who drove us there in the golf cart to spread the word and to not bring PP people there. He did not offer us our "one" visit if that was the case. And we haven't used it at any Chase Lounge in the last year or two.

No we don't. And it wasn't busy. We have Chase United and Chase SWA. We have used the Escape Lounge in Terminal 3 before several times. We were flying on SWA so we were in Terminal 4.

I tried to post a screen shot of the PP listing for CSL by The Club but the error code says the uploaded file is too large for the server to process.

I see fewer The Club locations at SEA and SFO that we used to visit in the past. I don't see them when I log into PP. I do think of PP membership as a throwaway benefit at this point. We used to have two restaurants at DEN and no lounge access, and DEN is expanding all of the time, making it a viable location for The Club to fit into one of the concourses.

The Club is still available at both airports.

I really hope Chase adds a Sapphire Lounge in Denver!! Seems like a great busy airport for them to expand to!!

That is definitely not the policy. It’s one visit per year for a non-Chase Priority pass membership. Not sure if that employee was just confused or what the issue may have been. You also do not get any complimentary guests with a non Chase PP membership.

It’s all clearly spelled out in the PP app. I would have shown the employee or asked to speak to someone else.

I visited the brand new Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club in SAN earlier this year. It was outstanding.

Was actually looking for the PP lounge, but found this one instead. I don't have a Chase card, but they let me in and said PP holders are allowed one free visit a year; you could still enter more than once per year, but subsequent visits would cost $75 each. I was glad to have stumbled upon it!

Thanks I'll be better prepared next time.
