AULANI buy, trade, or rent options

Thanks a lot Tug community. You have gotten my family addicted to timesharing. We have gone on some amazing vacations to Hawaii (Marriott and Westin), Four Seasons in Scottsdale and Carlesbad, Whistler, and many other amazing resorts and destinations.

Next on my bucket list is figuring out my strategy on Aulani. It looks like buying at the resort isn't an option as it is very expensive (I mostly exchange via II so timesharing is very affordable to us.)

Of course Aulani is only available on RCI, so I would have to would have to open a RCI account to possibly trade. Are people making trades into Aulani, and if so, are they just studios (or are 1 bedroom or 2 bedrooms matching in RCI?)

I would also be interested in renting though I know this option isn't cheap. It surprises me that I see so few rentals available on Redweek. This is a massive resort and I would think there would be much more inventory. Am I missing something? Or is there a different website I should be using to look up Aulani rentals (instead of Redweek or Tug)?

Forget RCI exchanges into Aulani. It's rare to none.

Here's a little-known way to access Aulani: buy resale points in the Welk system. Though Aulani requires a large amount of points (360,000 for a 1 bedroom, which is double to amount required for a 1BR premium at Welk's resort in San Diego), points can be bought at very reasonable prices and maintenance fees are relatively reasonable. One note of caution: you cannot reserve 2BR units through Welk, only 1 BR.

Does anyone know the answer to this question? I am curious as well, but for another reason (accessing Northstar).
