I will be in Augusta for a few days this weekend. Any recommendations on site seeing and restaurants. Thanks

sent you a private message. Marty

recommendations

I lived in Augusta for 6 years until 2002. This is what I recommend:

Cadwalladers Cafe on Washington Road - GREAT!! Fancy place. Hubby and I loved it here - for special occassions.

French Market Grille on Washington Road (1st choice)- or French Market Grille West on Fury's Ferry Road. Hubby and I still miss this place.

Mexican food - Monterrey's on Washington Road

Downtown - there is/was Sunshine Bakery (a deli/bakery/restaurant). VERY casual - but excellent food at great prices.

Italian - Guiseppi's on Wheeler Road

Fun -Pizza Joint (downtown)

Thank you for your suggestions.

Marty I never received the private email.

re-sent it.

Bob, I re-sent it........so sorry......Never put a TITLE in, and it never got sent.....I do that a lot, and have to go back to add title.

When you click on send, with no title, it appears to go off, and i just missed it. anyway, enjoy. wish i could be in Augusta to welcome you, but I'm at Hilton Head with family......they need strict supervision!!!

best, Marty

P.S. For sake of everybody else who may someday visit,

(1) French Market Grille-- wonderful food, atmosphere....more casual....Chuck Baldwin owner....invite him over.

(1) ALSO # 1, a tie, just different.....Calvert's...."white tablecloth", quieter, more refined, awesome, great atmosphere also---great specials.....Craig Calvert owner, invite him over....

tell 'em both that Marty & Mona sent you over!!!! Same location (Surrey Center Plaza, Wheeler Rd at Highland Ave./Berkmans Rd--name changes at corner). both 1 mile from Augusta National Golf Club.

(2) Cadwallader's - a solid choice too, but after other two.

Anywhere else? Yes, but I'd go back to above places twice....they're that good.

I almost included Calverts. Went there once. Didnt like it as much as Cadwalladers though. Miss French Market Grille though. MMMMMM their sesame crusted tuna and peanut butter pie.
