I don't recall seeing this posted before.

There is now one entrance to the rapid river. The entrance is near the children's area behind the Leap of Faith. The ride no longer goes fully around. You must get out of the water and walk a short distance to get back on again.

I was told that they did this since people kept going around and didn't provide others a chance to enjoy the river. With this change, there were always plenty of tubes.

That must be new since May when we were there. We rode it for hours, and there were multiple places to get in or out, and plenty of tubes.

I hope that is just a temporary change for summer??

I second this(Being temporary).

Sounds like they have ruined the fun of the Rapids.:annoyed:

Interesting -- the Rapid River was our favorite thing from the Atlantis trip. Will be curious if this is temporary or a permanent change. I would suspect it is permanent.

Is the part that is closed where the conveyor belt is, or is the belt still there?

Thanks!

Best,

Greg

This is insane. Please tell me this is temporary. People were having too much fun on the rapids so it must be stopped? Wth I went for Fourth of July last year and never felt it was overcrowded or had trouble finding tubes. They need to devote their attention to keeping all the pools open and in working condition.

I just noticed a complaint on the Atlantis FB page and the response is they are testing this out to improve the guest experience. Hopefully we will complain.

I posted a question about this on the Atlantis Facebook page. This is the vague response I got:

Atlantis Resort - Thank you for your message. We are currently testing this new system for Aquaventure’s inner tubes and The Current to help improve the guest experience. We hope to see you in paradise.

I posted too. i wonder if they re-opened the really lazy river by the Beach Tower? Always seemed to be closed in past. We like that pool.

Did you notice they are also offering reserved seating at the Grotto Pool? You pay extra for a reserved lounge. Which pool is the Grotto?

The staff told me it was permanent. It is closed by the Royal Tower just behind the kids water play area. The tubes then flow around the bend in a closed off area. The entrance is on the other side of the bend. It is a short 60 - 100 foot walk across to the other side to collect the tubes and begin the ride again. There was never a line. The beginning is where the water power surge station is. The belt is still there a little down river. You can exit at any of the "old locations" but should only enter at the one designated entrance.

The lazy river by the Beach Tower is open.

We are going to Harborside in September. I have been looking for an actual map of the pools and other attractions around the Atlantis property and have not been able to find one. Can anybody point me to a map?

They also have an app that may help with planning.

Thank you, very helpful!

We were at Atlantis end of April of this year. River still went all the way around - we went around more than once several times (takes about 30 min if you don't go in the tower). At busy times we had to wait up to 10 minutes for an inner tube at any of the entrances. I suppose this gives everyone a fair chance to ride without a wait.

Was annoyed by them roping off the grotto pool for a VIP area. That was new from our last visit a couple of years ago. It is a nice quiet and relaxing area that we would have liked to use.

It is by the exit from the twin slides that you race down. The ride is the opposite side of the leap of faith slide. Grotto pool is near the main building for food and drinks. The pool has water falls along one side of the pool.

Another change I noticed is they weren't doing the Cartoon Network inflatables on the water this year too. It's now on dry land. Again surprised because it was hugely popular but required a lot of lifeguards. This year the inflatables are on land. I showed it to my 9yo and she was still impressed but I'm not crazy about these changes: charging for grotto, blocking the rapids, moving inflatables to land. At least the really lazy river is back open. I wonder if the number crunchers are making the decisions.

Very disabled-unfriendly change

Ugh, ugh, ugh. As a disabled person, getting in and out of "lazy river" tubes is very difficult. I love riding lazy rivers, but getting into the tubes is truly exhausting. And for me, "100 feet" is not a short distance. It is more like the maximum distance I can travel without a wheelchair.

I haven't ever been to the Atlantis. I want to go, but this is another reason (besides the expense, the difficulty of getting through customs, etc.) not to go.

This particular river is not "lazy" -- it is a river Rapids. If you have a hard time with mobility you would not want to be on this ride in the first place. The good news is that there is an actual lazy river as well. No restrictions on getting in and out of that one.

My son favorite ride in Atlantis. We spent about 1 hour there ( I was dizzy already) We went march_spring break 2015. It was totally empty maybe 20 people on the rapids by then (week day) Royal Caribbean cruise_1 day in Bahamas. we will come back in 2017 for 5 days. Hopefully its only seasonal the changes.

Thanks - I looked it up on the link someone posted. That's the pool at the end of the white water rapids part of the Current ride, where people used to be able to get in and out! I always got in and out of the Current from the Baths pool, right before the conveyor belt. It was nice because we usually hang out at that pool because it is near the beach. Guess I can't do that anymore. :(

How much are they charging per chair?

This is not verified but there was a discussion on TripAdvisor where they said prices can vary by season. The original poster said they were told it was$150 for
