Indio, California is one of the many communities which make up "Palm Springs", and I have a work location I visit now and again which requires an extended stay. This time three of us are using the Worldmark Indio as our company housing & much to my surprise the place is packed!!!

Summer time in the desert is usually a slow period, but for some reason families come to broil their kids in the 100 + degree heat out here.

Nice resort (what I've seen of it). Reminds me of the type of construction they have at HGVC I-Drive, having stayed there a couple of years ago. I hate the stereotypical card sell for TS tours and activities mandated to get a parking pass. I found a way to get through it rather painlessly...but still an unnecessary hassle.

Have the famous Date Shake for me -- it is located not too far from you. So surprised it is packed at this time of year. Wonder if you could fry an egg on the sidewalk :)

I barely saw much of the resort. We were working nearby 10 - 12 hour days, so we simply worked, ate, slept, then repeat.

I did a walk though the place and it's very, very nice. I can only guess that it's a low points vacation, hence all the kids and families. NO free internet there though and no mid-week tidy up service which surprised me. We were on the second floor building six, which has four floors. The elevator was fairly slow, the ceilings thin as people walked above us & could hear the TV's on from the adjoining unit. Living in a single family home I'm not used to that sort of building.

Still the resort was new-ish, kept up very nice & had more things available to us than we had time for. We had several packages overnighted to the resort and the desk was great about receiving them and notifying us of their arrival.

Alas, no date shakes for me this trip. I will however be out in the area in 10 days with someone from Illinois so I'll make sure to take them to a date shake.

Not necessarily. The desert locations seem to be a huge draw for Europeans (go figure) so the July / August months are busier than most realize.
