My wife and I are at DSV 1 this week. This is our fourth visit to Palm Desert, the third time at DSV 1. We are in a two-bedroom, on the second floor, G building. This is our first time back since the units have been refurbished. They are very nicely done. We chose the G building to escape the street noise from Cook Ave. that we had in the past. Since DSV 1 no longer has the arrangement with the hotel to use their workout space they have upgraded theirs. It consists of three very well equipped rooms actually nicer than the hotel; more space and more equipment based on my impression from several years ago. Weather is warm, and will be hot later in the week. Lots of discounts because October is apparently an off month. Tonight we will be eating at Sirocco, 20% discount, at the Renaissance in Indian Wells.

Thanks for the update. I will be there for Thanksgiving. Any idea if most of the units have been refurbished? I will try to request a refurbished one.

Thanks for the update. We will be there for Christmas this year. Glad to hear they have upgraded the fitness center too.

For dinner, try Acqua Pazza at The River in Rancho Mirage. It's right on Hwy 110. Great 3 course meal for $19.95 or 15.95 before 5 pm. You can add a glass of wine for another $4-5. Some nice shops right there as well.

Enjoy.

I believe all the units have been refurbished.

Here's what I do when I'm on vacation. Work out. Go to the pool. Read. Take a nap. Go out to eat except when I'm too tired from doing nothing and then my wife brings in food.

We are here too. In building R. It appears that they have all been refurbished but not all painted in the new updated colors. Great weather, great place.

I "vacation" the same way. Time to relax. The "touring" trips are miticuosly planed and thoroughly enjoyed, but the "sit and be a slug" trips definitely have a place in our lives. :)

Cheers

Steve A, you vacation the way I do (while DH golfs). Hope you're enjoying building G. It's where we've stayed the past 2 Octobers. This year we will be there for two weeks and have requested building R or S because TUGGERS have raved about the views. Ace 1 and First Class, how are your views? Are you at all close to the pool and the grills? In my building request I've given building G as a back up because the views are great and the pool and grill are right across the street. We're having another couple join us for the second week so I want everything to be perfect. I'm sure we'll be delighted with whatever we get because the resort is so wonderful. Steve, I'm hoping lots of discounts are still available when I arrive on the 22nd. Where did you find your discounts? Mjm 1, Acqua Pazza sounds great. What type of food do they serve (I have a very picky eater in our group)? To all who are at MPD this week, ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY!!!!!

The view from Building R is great. I'm not sure where the barbeques are since they haven't been anything we have been looking for. We are a short walk from the pool. Really like Buildings S & R as they are at the end of the culdesac and very quiet. The unit has been nicely updated. Ask at the front desk for a discount card as many restaurants are giving a 20% discount the month of October. Evjoying our stay, but it is going fast!

I have only eaten the steak and it was outstanding. As I recall they have a pretty broad menu. I suspect they have a web site you could check out. It is actually called Piero's Acqua Pazza and their number is 760-862-9800. The third course I had was a big bowl of ice cream that was outstanding. Can't wait to take my family there in December. Enjoy!

Hey guys,
I'm over in DSII now and I would recommend going over to Roys in Rancho Mirage for their aloha hour. It runs from 4:30-6:30 in the bar area. There are a choice of six appetizers, each for $5. Great way to have an outstanding meal for a very reasonable price. Drinks are also $5 (well drinks). Their servers are also outstanding. Enjoy the heat.

101 degrees today, but thankfully it only felt like 96 because of the low, 8%, humidity. It was ok in the morning. We spend 10-12 at the small pool across the street from G building. Ate off of the happy hour menu at Tommy Bahama's on El Paseo. The street was empty as were some of the store fronts. The mini fish tacos are unbelievably good.

Had a problem with the freezer in the apparently new refrigerator. Called it in before we went out. Fixed by the time we came back.

Hi all, I would like to rent a unit at Desert Springs Villas I next March. Are units assigned at check-in or will I know the unit before check-in, based on who I rent it from? And, is that the unit I will be given *FOR SURE*....[meaning] could they switch the unit I rent for a different one....when I check-in. I could care less about the view...I want a ground floor unit.
Best place to rent a unit.....Redweek?

Thank you.

Steve we went to Acqua Pazza today for lunch and it was very good. The Chinese Chicken salad and the Lobster salad I would order again. Just went to The Falls Steakhouse in PS. Try their smoking Martinis during Happy Hour! Made with dry ice--fun.

All,

While we will not be in Desert Springs for Thanksgiving, we will be at Shadow Ridge.

I highly recommend Sullivan's in El Paseo. Great food!

Have fun!

We had to leave today and are now at Westin Kierland in Phoenix. Wow do these units seem smaller than DS Villas 1.

We went to the Acqua Pazza tonight (Thursday). The food was good, but two things to consider. First, the place is very loud. Secondly, there were a number of families there with very young and restless children. Either or both may not be to everyone's taste.

I love the fact that TUGGERS share so much information. Thanks for all the restaurant recommendations. Here's a tip for those who like to grill. We got tenderloin steaks (aka filet mignon) from Ralph's last year. They were absolutely as good or better than any I've had in a restaurant. I love to grill because DH does the grilling and I just have to prepare the fixings.

Any building recommendations for DSV II? Just booked a late January week using an AC from II. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Any specific type of view you looking for? I'm in unit 2275-76 in building 837 and this is exactly what I wanted; second floor across the street from the main pool. Balcony looks over a road to the pool on one side and a lagoon on the other with the mountains in the background anyway you look. And as an extra added bonus, we don't have to duck flying golf balls. There is plenty of afternoon sun which should be great at the time you are coming.

Bob, I would prefer a quiet area AWAY from the pool, preferably overlooking the golf course and not near the main roads. While at DSV I last year I was way too close to Cook road and did not appreciate the traffic noise. Look forward to your additional comments, thanks.

Be careful what you wish for mj. Our last trip here we were overlooking the golf course in building 875 and almost got killed by an errant tee shot while we were having breakfast on our patio. Maybe try for building 737; it looks like it would be a nice location based on what you are seeking.
