Just want to know Marriott is in the market for certain timeshares. I just got offer to buy back my unit for $10.6k.

I'd guess that if Marriott has a ready and willing buyer for a certain Week, the Marriott Resales office will do its best to find that Week. Especially if the prospective buyer puts forth a persuasive argument - "I'll buy such-and-such Week at developer prices but no other and no DC Points, final answer."

The Aruba weeks are still sold as weeks, the resort is close to sellout. I don't think they can sell DC points in Aruba. They can refer someone to USA domestic sales for DC point sales, but the reps in Aruba still have to sell weeks. Thus it appears they may be replenishing inventory?

Could be. I was thinking of someone savvy enough to make the argument for a Weeks purchase in a non-Aurba sales office, but willing only to take the chance based on Aruba Weeks still being in play.

Is your week listed for sale with Marriott Resales? If it is, I suspect that the real answer might be what I have suggested before--that Marriott may be winding down its resale operation and trying not to leave owners in the lurch who have been patiently waiting for a long time for their listed week to sell. They seem to have made quite a few offers in the last six months to buy back listed weeks at what are pretty high prices compared to today's public secondary market.

i think they are just looking to grab more units for the dc members.. but who really cares what the reason is, if you want to sell with no hassels and for that amount, DO IT.
