Hi, last time we went to Aruba I rented through Avis, however right now their pricing is through the roof.
We're staying at the Ocean Club and would like to have a car for the duration of our trip.
Does anyone have any feedback on Budget Aruba, is it the same Budget as we have in the States? Probably a franchise.
They have the best rates out of more reputable brands for the month of April.
I probably need a minivan and with two small kids and loads of luggage I would like to pick it up at the airport.

Any feedback and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I always rent a car from Hans of tropiccarrent@setarnet.aw. Hans is really great and his cars are clean and reliable. He'll pick you up at the airport and you can drop off the car curbside at the airport as well. Very convenient. His rates for 2 drivers are around 160.00/week. Can't beat that price. However, Hans only has small cars. If I were you, I'd rent the car from Hans, put the wife, kids and luggage in a taxi and meet up at the Ocean Club. You'll spent $60.00 in taxi fare round trip but think of all the money you'll save by not renting a mini van. Better yet, Hans will also drop off and pick up the car at your hotel. Hope this info helps. Have fun in Aruba, it's one of my favorite places.

Not a bad option, thanks for recommendation, I will look into this.
Judging by other posts Hans might be a reliable option.

We just rented from Top Drive. Deepak was fantastic. New car $500 for 2 weeks, weeks 51 and 52. It was the best rate we've paid in years.

Budget is the same company. You'll see most of the big US car rental companies in Aruba. We rented the smallest, cheapest car from them. Turns out our car was a manual shift. No problem since that's what I drive at home, but it won't work for everyone. Also, $5 per day for a second driver.

FWIW we use Royal, have for the last few times we rented. No problems; check them out.

Also, if you are going to Aruba, you might want to get the Aruba discount card. Go to visitaruba.com for details.

Disclaimer - I am NOT affiliated with them. I like the card because a lot of restaurants give a glass of wine or a discount. Lots of other discounts, too.

I have rented from several of the brand names, but I rented from Hans on our last trip. He is the best, competitive price and superb service, far superior to Budget or any of the others. In addition, he is a really nice guy.

Just looked them up, very appealing, they might have exactly what I need - this Kia Carens (for 6) would probably accomodate my slightly oversized family :)

Will look into other recommendations as well, thanks all.

Btw, I looked at this Aruba card, supposedly Avis offers 15% off with the card but as a start they want a fortune.

We've been using top drive as well. Even the brand names here have shall we say well worn cars. Some of the rental companies offer "new car" options- definitely a plus. That means you'll get a less worn car, although far from what we consider new and different from US rentals.

I'm guessing all the rental companies buy used cars to start out with, and some clearly are very used. It's worth a few dollars more to get a newer car- you'll notice the difference.

We always use Hans, never had an issue. He has a limited amount of vehicles. We have met him at the airport and at the Ocean Club for delivery and pick.

Yes, we've been using him for years after trying out everyone else and have been extremely satisfied. Based on so many people's favorable reports, Hans is in high demand, sometimes requiring 3+ months to reserve a car.
