Will be in Aruba for the first time end of October, staying at Marriott Surf Club, and was wondering about Snorkel and Sunset Sail trips. I am looking at the Jolly Pirates or Tranquillo Boat trips. Anyone have any recommendations pn these trips or any other boat trips. We are 2 adults no kids, late 40s.

Howard,

I did the Jolly Pirates sunset sail last year with my daughter and her friend (wife gets too seasick) and it was a lot of fun. Very informal and casual; good drinks; very entertaining to watch or participate in the rope swing, and gorgeous views. They've raised their prices a bit. We almost went on the Mi Dushi one this summer but Hurricane Dean changed our plans a bit; I don't think anyone was out at sea that night. http://www.midushi.com. We decided to go horseback riding to the Natural Pool instead, and had a blast. http://www.visitaruba.com/ranchodaimari/. Highly recommended.

If you prefer to eat dinner, Red Sail Sports has a full dinner sail on a catamaran.

Please do the 6 hour sail with Tranqulio this is the best trip in Aruba. Anthony is the best!!! The boat is small only takes up to 16 out I have never seen more than 12. Have a great time and tell him Don said HI.

Thanks Don

I was also looking at booking the Jolly Pirate trip, and was wondering if the BBQ and 2 extra hours which is included in the AM sail is truly worth the extra $$$. I have 2 kids (12,13) and was wondering if the 5hrs would be boring after a while.

We did the Jolly Pirates cruise with our daughters a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. Our only disappointment was that the water was pretty rough when we stopped to snorkel by the sunken ship, so our youngest daughter only felt comfortable swimming part way there...so she and I didn't get to see much. Both girls loved swinging off the rope into the water. I recall having a nice crew and overall a fun day. Sorry, I don't recall doing the bbq, so can't comment on that. I do agree that too long on a boat can be boring for them.
