Is there any advantage to a Friday arrival vs either Sat or Sun with regards to getting a better choice of villa location? Obviously I realize if the resort is full, and most people are leaving Sat or Sun of my arrival weekend, there would be fewer options available for a Friday arrival. I guess what I'm asking is does day of arrival make any difference. Thanks in advance.

See this thread for a discussion about check-in day.

What makes the most difference in the view you get is how early you make your reservation. Reservations are time stamped and the earlier you reserve, the better view you will get, within your deeded category.

Best practice is to start calling at 8:59 am ET, at exactly 12 mos. out.

I think you more or less answered your own question. The most flexibility is on Saturday because that's the day most people leave too. Sunday is second best and Friday the least flexible. You're likely to end up in the worst room if you check in Friday as all the better rooms were given out the prior Saturday and Sunday. You might get lucky, though. Maybe someone checks out early and you get to take their place.

We were told (by multiple and independent sources) that they split the desired unit inventory into 3 so that all those checking in on each of the days get an equal chance at the better views. You are not supposed to be at a disadvantage checking in on Sun. as opposed to Fri. for example.

That doesn't make sense as you can check in at Maui 7 days a week. They don't have set check-in days and that why the inventory can vary from day to day. You can take your 2 bedroom unit and turn it into a 1 bedroom for 13 days. I met a lot of owners over the summer that did that. Anyways, most owners choose to check in on Saturday so that is where most of the available inventory is. Westin did not divide the check-in days as they can't. Hope that makes sense to you.

At Harborside, different buildings have different check-in days.
