Are there any really nice timeshares in Belize?

I forgot that our daughter's in-laws asked me about Belize for a timeshare week for them. I haven't seen anything on II or RCI just sitting online.

I assume this is not a location I can get for them. They do love Mexico. I was going to email SFX next.

When are they planning on going? You don't see a lot of them coming through II or RCI, but there are some nice ones. I own at Captain Morgan's and love going there, but it's a bit on the rustic side. I also own at Venezia del Caribe, which should be really nice but isn't finished yet. There's a fellow who's posted TUG direct exchanges at Grand Colonies for a pair of weeks he owns down there (weeks 47 & 48); I've never stayed there but understand it's nice - it's just south of the new Marriott resort, Alaia, on Ambergris Caye. Here's his ads:

I've had the best luck exchanging into Belize through ThirdHome. I'll be heading down to this one at the end of the month:

There's one additional week available in April at this place in Placencia:

I'll be in the Virgin Islands that week or would have taken it. The reviews only average 3.75 out of 5, but it's a beach villa in a great location - it would cost me on the order of $700 or so all in given the exchange currency and the admittedly higher exchange fee. If you're interested in that one I could probably work something out for booking it for them or let you know how to get a ThirdHome account. (They just instituted a $295 annual fee, so you'd have to take that into account - this week is going for only 1 key and I typically get 9 keys for the weeks I deposit with them, resulting in multiple weeks for a single week deposit. YMMV, but my schedule conflict is due to a week at the Ritz Carlton in St Thomas that cost 6 keys and a $995 exchange fee for a total of about $1700 all in for me.)

This place was available starting last Friday on ThirdHome:

The minimum all inclusive fee was a bit high (minimum $1,592/night) and I didn't really need a 5 BR house on a private island so I didn't go for it.

There a few outside of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye (the long finger of land that extends down from Mexico). I'm not sure what company they trade with and I would expect most or all of the resorts to be on the small side. We find San Pedro too 'touristy' and it has become over-run with stinky noisy golf carts often being driven by intoxicated expats. The Timeshares are all north of San Pedro, not really walking distance to town. That area is growing rapidly.
The timeshares are; Belize Yacht Club Resort, Captain Morgan's Vacation Beach Club, Costa Maya Reef Resort, Grand Colony Island Villas, Reef Village Vacation Club, Seven Seas Resort, and Villas at Banyan Bay.

We have stayed twice at Captain Morgan's retreat and enjoyed it. That was several years ago, though. Traded into there via Interval International.

I had a thought in the middle of the night but then forgot it again until I saw this thread.... I would think this question/thread be should be moved to the Caribbean section as Belize is not in Mexico and has nothing to do with Mexico other than sharing it's northern border with it. Belize is a Caribbean country (no it isn't an island, but it does have many). Guatemala would argue that most of Belize belongs to it but that's a whole other different story.

I thought about that, too, but am on the fence as to whether it really matters. Belize is in CARICOM, and is arguably primarily a Caribbean nation, but the flavor I’ve seen on posts in that forum is predominantly about the islands. (Mexico is kind of in the same position vis-a-vis the Caribbean resort areas just north of Belize, but big enough for its own forum.) There used to be a few threads on Belize in the International Timesharing forum before folks started posting sporadically on it in the Caribbean one. On the plus side, it got responses here from folks that travel to that area, so I figure it’s ok here. I wonder if there are enough tuggers that go to Central America to justify its own forum.
