I'm fine with it, as it is common sense and everyone should be doing their part not to spread Covid unknowingly. It is the first 'requirement' I have seen for any Covid related safety precaution, everything else has been highly suggested. Not sure if we are either cutting edge or behind the 8 ball.

Part of the press release:
Today the Board of Health voted to implement an Emergency Public Health Order requiring the use of simple cloth face coverings to reduce risk of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) when entering or working in public facilities such as grocery stores, pharmacies, convenience stores, etc. This also includes restaurants when picking up take-out and common areas of residential or commercial complexes with multiple units. Employees of all Essential Businesses, as defined by Governor’s Executive Order are also directed to wear a face covering when interacting with the public or within six feet of a co-worker.

UPDATE: Just listening to the morning news and I see the state of Rhode Island is doing this....guess my question answered :)

It is not a requirement here in New Hampshire. My personal opinion is it should be. I would say the last time I went to the grocery store (the other day) only about 30-40% of the people had some sort of face covering. I don't think people are taking this seriously. We aren't a hotspot, but if people continue to live like nothing is going on, we could be. Massachusetts is only a hop, skip, and a jump from here.

Doesn’t effect us in particular but the city and county of Durham, NC instituted this policy effective today.

“The new guidelines require people to wear a clean face-covering any time they are or will be in contact with other people who are not household members in public or private spaces where it is not possible to maintain social distance such as grocery stores, pharmacies, business location and public transit.“

We wear a mask when out of the house regardless. Just because we care about the effect we may have on others.

Yes, masks are required in NJ.

Weird at first - foggy glasses, uncomfortable elastic around ears, not seeing any smiles - but you get used to them!

It’s suggested in Alabama. We’re keeping them in the car so we have it if we need to go out somewhere.

Just where do they suggest I buy one to wear?

I went out yesterday to pickup an online order at Target. I also stopped in to Aldi. Around here I only noticed about 25-30% of the people were wearing face masks.

Excellent point. They aren’t readily available, are they? My wife spent about 3 weeks making some for a local hospital, so that's why we have some.

They are recommended here, but required for essential workers. Some of the grocery stores are making their own rules and won't allow customers into the store without one. I was wearing mine whenever I left the house, but forgot the last couple times that I walked my dogs. Most people on the street are not wearing anything.

Suggested but not required in Colorado at the state level. Some municipalities may have requirements in place.

Yes, SF Bay Area counties. LA County since about a week. All grocery and store personnel are required to wear. Don't need to wear one if you are outside exercising and practicing social distance.

masks are required in Maryland but it doesn't have to be "medical".
The local news showed people lined at a grocery store where the masks were bandana's, halloween, T-shirts, bra cups, etc. :)

No. But my wife and I carry a mask with us just in case we're asked to wear one. From what I've seen, most people with masks are either not properly wearing them and/or they are constantly touching their face.

We have N95 masks (I bought a box of 12) leftover from when we renovated our home (scraping and sanding old paint).

Not required in Indiana. Certain stores may require it, tho, for workers and customers.

Dh ordered a bunch, and also gloves, through Amazon. It's taking awhile for them to get here. He had some already on hand that we've been using.

Not mandatory here, but suggested.

Making it mandatory would be good. We have been going for walks the past 3 days and we wore a surgical mask, the 3-ply ones because we have a couple of boxes from when we were cleaning the cat litter boxes. We saw no one with masks. No biggie, we just dodged them before we got close.

Try Etsy for facemasks.
Etsy has lots of stores selling masks. I ordered from 3 shops on April 3 and have only had one of them send me my masks so far. All ended up backlogged. I asked if I could get a refund from one and the answer was no. She has pushed out the delivery date twice so far.

I did get a couple very quickly from REI. The shipping date was over a week out, but I got my masks in 2 or 3 days. One fit really nice the first time I wore it, but it keeps sliding down now, making me touch my face much more than I would if I weren't wearing a mask.

I wish I hadn't throw out all of my bandanas. Those were probably the best.

I agree. When they became mandatory here in Riverside County, CA that was my first reaction. Thankfully, I received a text from a friend saying her sister was making them and would mail me one. Since then, I have seen several posts online offering them for free/donation, so I have a few more.

This is so true. Making them mandatory should also require that people understand their purpose and how to safely use them. Real (medical N95 type) masks are intended to block and absorb contaminants, so they should be like a sponge filled with virus, if they helped at all.

I see people touching, readjusting their masks over and over, then stuffing them in a purse or pocket when done. People wear masks and other coverings but continue to touch around their eyes.

They also need to be discarded or disinfected between each use. They can give people a false sense of security, just like wearing gloves does.
