We do not use much bug spray here in So Cal so I've been out of the loop for a while. We are going to MN/WS in a few weeks and probobly will need some insect repellant.

Does anyone use the spray bottle? Any comments? It says it can be used on clothing, is this generally OK?

Thanks

I've used it and it didn't work very well for me. If I recall correctly, it got a bad rating from Consumer Reports also.
Here is Florida the only thing that works for me is Deet. Nasty stuff, but it keeps the mosquitos away.

Interesting.

Both the wife and I have used it with good results. We used to have a Vet in town that sold the bath oil to people with horses and they swore by it to keep the fly's off their horses. We've used it on our dogs when they've had flea's and it actually killed the flea's on the dogs. I'm assuming the oil base made it so they could not breath.

I do know that when my wife sold Avon (long time ago), she was told to NEVER sell it as a bug repellent. The actual manufactor of the product had threatened to bring legal action if it was ever marketed that way.

We still use it during the summer months and it has worked for us more or less if we remember to use it on a regular basis. By that I mean use the soap to bath with et....

Consumer Reports tested it and said it has absolutely no bug repellent qualities at all...

It always worked great for me. I'm assuming you are talking about the SSS oil and not the SSS insect repellant?

I was looking at an Avon ad email. There is a spray sold specifically as bug repellent. Some versions have a sunscrean PF 15 in them. This is not a shampoo.

I found a good deal a couple of years ago and bought a whole box of the bug spray online. My husband (the farmer) loved it and used it all up. The few times I actually got to try it, it seemed to work very well. Guess I should buy more.

I think it only works for people who naturally just don' t get bitten much. Mosquitos LOVE me and skin so soft may as well be marinade.

A natural product that works extremely well for us is Cactus Juice. Expensive, but the version I use also has SPF 20 sunscreen. It's non-greasy, but moisturizes the skin. So when you factor in those three items (natural, sunscreen, moisturizer) it's the only one I'll use (plus, as a bonus, it smells really nice - citrus.) Sold in camping stores and online either at their own website or on eBay.

I've used it once...and the mosquitos seemed to enjoy it...very much. :annoyed: Me...not so much. Needless to say...I've never used it again. :p

That is different stuff. They added an ingrediant (I can't recall what it was) that allowed them to call it a "bug spray". We've never used that. Just the SSS oil or SSS soap.
