We've been contacted by an agent from Timeshare Resale Partners, LLC regarding our advertised timeshare for sale. We accepted offer from buyer. We have no paperwork yet whatsoever. Agent says buyer wants us to reserve a particular week for them for next year. We are reluctant to do so, and feel this request is suspicious. Anyone know of this company, or have any experience with such a request?

Thanks.

I would say it's definitely fishy. Let's say you make them a reservation, but give you a reason to quit the deal. You still have a reservation made. It's best to attempt the deal with NO reservation.

Was the selling price consistent with prices here, e-bay, Red Week, etc. or is it much higher.

Don't agree to anything until you have a copy of contract in hand and see what actual terms are!

It is very common for a buyer to request a reservation prior to the transfer completion. Most desired weeks are gone by then because transfers can take so long. Since you own the timeshare and control the reservation, there is no risk in the request beyond a change fee if it applies in your case.

I believe this is a legitimate company run by a licensed real estate agent with only commissions after the sale.

All that said, you shouldn't need to make a reservation until contract is signed and money is in escrow (faux or real). You can always change it back but why waste the time.

Ditto...

I agree with others above that if this is a legitimate broker, then there should at least be a formal purchase and sale contract presented, even if it's also conditional upon a particular reservation being successfully made --- and at least a good faith cash deposit (to be held in escrow) before you should be expected to do anything on behalf of the alleged buyer-to-be.

Be aware that even though this broker claims to not charge an upfront fee, there will still be a fee. This fee is likely to be very large in %. Study the paperwork carefully and make sure you are ok with the fee that will be deducted from the proceeds.

Well, we'll all learn I guess. I went ahead and reserved the requested week (definitely a high demand week) with the understanding that the signed contract and deposit must be in escrow within 24 hours of my making the reservation. I can then cancel or change the reservation without cost. No skin off my nose, took a total of 5 minutes by phone. We'll see tomorrow morning how sincere this buyer is. I'll let this forum know how this adventure turns out and we'll all be a bit wiser.

Thanks for your timely responses.

If you were advertising on another site and they contacted you and agreed to your price and terms any fees including escrow, etc should be paid by their buyer unless you specified that you would be picking up any of the closing costs.

That is true. I would read every word to make sure though.
